They DO NOT RESPOND to your claim and when they do they tell the contractor/repairman that it will take 30-days to get paid. The repairman refuses to do the job because he DOES NOT want to wait 30-days to get paid. So American Home Guard ask YOU to pay the repairman and "promise" to reimburse you. You pay the repairman but NEVER get reimbursed by American Home Guard! THEY NEVER REIMBURSE YOU!!! So you paid $400.00 for a one year policy and pay your own repairs! This complaint will be filed with the Better Business Bureau and my attoney.

The repairman did not want to wwait 30-days to be paid by American Home Guard. So Cheryl (an AHG Claims Representative) told me to pay the repairman directly and that they (American Home Guard) would reimburse me. I sent AHG the "paid in full receipt" and Instead of reimbursing me they cancelled my policy and reimbursed me only half the full year that I paid! I paid a full year policy in October 2016 and they cancelled my policy in January 2017. So, I paid a full year policy and paid for my own repairs. I am going to pursue legal damages and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, I went on the AHG website and entered my information to receive a quote with my Texas address and was given the opportunity to put my credit card information to purchase a policy. So how many more Texas Homeowners are going to have to endure the aggravation that Darice and I have. Again DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

I have a similar complaint as Darice. I called in a claim for my heating unit and ac/heat fan on 12/22. I was told they were no longer servicing Texas due to fraudulent claims, even though I had not received any written notice. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Joe who said he would give a message to Jim Connors. I spoke to him the following day and I explained that my claim should be honored since I called my claim in prior to being notified in writing of the policy cancellation, he put me on hold and then transferred me back to the claims area. I have called a minimum of 20 times, either I'm told to leave a message or I get a run around from the person that... Read More

I have a valid contract with American Home Guard since 8.12.16. I notified them of a problem with my home heating system or HVAC around 11.23.16. They actually started the claim process on 12.6.16. They contracted a HVAC repair service to do the work. The hired company determined that the unit could only be replaced and not repaired. After multiple unanswered calls, texts, and emails they finally acknowledged my claim in an email dated 12.18.16. Once they realize you are filing a claim, they do not answer calls or return phone messages. I was also asked to communicate by text message from their rep and those went unanswered along with multiple emails as well. The requested documentation... Read More

In response to this review, this will confirm that attention was fully serviced to the policy holder with respect to the submitted claim. American Home Guard responds accordingly and in a timely professional manner to address any and all issues as they are presented to the Company. Be assured that we value and appreciate all of our clients, each and everyone is very important to us and we do our utmost to handle their requests and follow through to the best of our abilities in keeping them satisfied with the services we are able to provide. Our Claims Specialists offer a variety of ways to communicate be it via email, telephone or text contact. During the entire time of this particular claim, the policy holder was made aware of the status at each step. At thorough and complete evaluation of the circumstance and situation from the technician service call(s) and diagnosis of the state of the HVAC unit at the policy holder residence, it was concluded that this system had a pre-existing condition which ultimately could not be repaired. In this instance, the warranty policy terms and conditions do not allow for replacement of the system in question. It is then suggested that the policy holder may seek advice through their home owner's insurance policy as it is above and beyond what American Home Guard is able to cover and for which we cannot be responsible. In conclusion, we have done everything on our side to have the situation diagnosed with review from all documentation provided to us from the dispatched contractor, and we stand by our responsibilities in addressing the issue. We do not under any circumstance "avoid" our duty to our clients.

I have had a warranty on my home since I bought it back in 97. I was with a few other companies throughout that time and wasn't all to happy with there service. I signed up about a year ago and had a leak in my pipes a few months in. Within 24 hours an experienced plumber came out and stopped the leak.

Probably the worst customer experience I have ever had. We purchased a home in August, along with a 14 month Home Warranty from American Home Guard. In October, our oven stopped working (we have proof through our home inspection that it was working when we purchased the home, and we ourselves used it after moving in) On October 17, we contacted AHG. We were told that they would file a claim, and we would receive an email confirmation along with claim number within 24 hours. 3 days later, after hearing nothing, we contacted them again, and they said they had lost our paperwork, we gave them our information again, and they got the claim sent through that day. That was just a sign of things... Read More

BEWARE!!!! This company takes your money and never provides service. We have been waiting three days for a furnace issue. They NEVER answer the phone, it goes to voice mail. Now I ask you, what reputable company does that? Our house is freezing, it could cause our pipes to burst if it gets cold enough. One woman gave me the name & phone # of the Heating Company they called to placed a service call. When I contacted this company, the owner of the heating company told me they were not in contract with this company. He said they sent him an application to become an approved contractor. Meanwhile we are here without heat. We are seniors, money is tight but I guess we have to hire... Read More

Hi Carolyn, The nature of your claim was indeed an urgent matter due to lack of heat in your home. After review of our phone records, it indicates that any time you have called us, we have had representatives available nights, weekends and at all times to take your call. We find it hard to believe that a contractor would tell you that they are not in contract with our company or that an application is pending prior to his dispatch to you. Your initial claim for your furnace resulted in your informing us that your furnace was 'now working'. We had followed up with a response via email that your claim was closed. It seemed that your unit was intermittently working and not working thus resulting in the difficulty to diagnosis it. Our claims department put forward all efforts to assist you with your claim with hopes to provide it with the necessary repairs. Since then, we have addressed all issues you have and look forward to providing you with service for the next issue that may arise. Wishing you and yours a Happy holiday season and New Year! Sincerely, American Home Guard

Hi Sherry, A claims specialist explained that your monthly payment was due at the time of your call, while addressing your request to file a claim. You were under the impression that you were able to transfer a previous month's payment to the next month because you believed that if you haven't used the previous month for a service/ claim that it would be transferable to the following month. If that was the case, one can conclude that your premium would be equal to the (1) payment you submitted towards your plan. A 30 day waiting period is standard in the home warranty industry prior to filing any claim from the date of purchase which leads us to believe that you have had this issue prior to purchasing your home warranty with us. Our billing department had issued you a refund for your (1) monthly payment as per your request. We want to wish you a Happy holiday season and New Year. Sincerely, American Home Guard
