American Home Guard offers three simple home warranty plans that are easy to understand and provide excellent coverage for all major systems and appliances. Despite having to wait for full coverage to go into effect, customers can expect generous repair and replacement allowances and reasonable service requirements with their flexible and affordable plans. Coverage Options - 4 / 5

American Home Guard offers straightforward, transparent coverage plans for systems, appliances, or both. They also extend optional coverage for such items as pools or spas, sprinkler systems, roof leaks, well pumps, and septic tanks. AHG has a per-item benefit limit of $500 for heating and cooling equipment for the first three months of coverage, which increases to $2,000 after that initial period. Similarly, their benefit limit per appliances, plumbing, and electrical starts out at $150 and increases to $500 after the first three months. Although coverage amounts are limited during the initial coverage period, their repair and replacement allowance is quite generous when compared to that of similar providers, making them an excellent option for homeowners looking to get the most out of their dollar.

Reputation - 4.4 / 5

American Home Guard is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau or is a member of the NHSCA. On January of 2017, the BBB identified a pattern of complaints against business and requested information from them regarding the matter. Although AHG responded to the BBB's request, they failed to address the underlying problems causing discontent among their customers and were given the lowest possible rating. In spite of everything, American Home Guard maintains a high Trustpilot score and enjoys many more positive reviews than negative ones on the Better Business Bureau website.

It has been OVER a WEEK since you were notified that my WASHING MASHINE was out of order. NO one has contacted me during this time; not YOU nor ANYONE. I have found a TECHNICAL REPAIRMAN and no longer need your assistance on this matter. I WANT MY PAYMENT TO YOU REFUNDED NOW. In the absence of a response I will paper you through the INTERNET and go after you in court and the Better Business Bureau. Make it easy n all of us; pay me back the prorate share of my ANNUAL payment remaining contract NOW.

Herb, My name is Vincent Hamilton. I am part of executive management here at American Home Guard. I would like to search our system to see what might have transpired but are unable to simply because you have not provided your last name. I honestly believe you are confusing us with a different company as the names might be similar. The service you are describing does not match up with the services we provide. If you would like to provide your last name or policy number I will be more than happy to look into what transpired. If in fact, you are a customer of ours I will do everything in my power to assist you moving forward. If you are not a customer we are requesting you remove your rating! Should you like to enroll or find out more about our services do not hesitate to reach out. We are available 24 hours a day 7 Days a week to assist you. Thank You,

Interesting that you call this one of the best. This is not my first Home Warranty company and it's one of the absolute worst! First of all, they sent me a contract by email and suggested that I print it out, which I did. The sales representative advised me to make changes to the hard copy and send it back, With The Changes noted. I did exactly that. When I had a claim about six months later, I called the company and put in a request for service. They refused my claim because they said I was supposed to have called them with any changes and that the item was not covered. I explained what I was told by the sales representative but it fell on deaf ears. They never called me back. I had to... Read More

I am a customer of AHG. This is the worst company in terms of response and customer service. I have a had a claim open for 30 days and they cannot find a technician in my area who will fix my appliance. I have asked for a manager to call me back and all I get are empty promises. I wish they had a rating a less than 1 star because that is what they have earned.

Scammers!!! They are super nice when selling you the warranty. I signed up with them at first, but when I read the contract ( ALWAYS READ THE CONTRACT!!!) there were so many clauses that could be used not to give you service (I.e. their contractor may ask to see your maintenance records up to 3 years in order for company to replace something that's not working). I canceled them next day of course. They would not refund my premium. Three weeks passed and I kept calling them about my refund. The response was always the same... " I don't know what happened with your refund, someone will call u back on that". Of course nobody calls you back. I had to file a dispute against them with my... Read More

Hello Karen, We take our reviews quite seriously which has prompted us to review what events might have transpired. Upon reviewing the account you had set up we have found you spoken with a representative from executive management on February 19th in regards to your complaint the moment after you posted this review. You have expressed to us via e-mail that we have resolved your complaint to your satisfaction. We understand things come up and it might be much easier to write the negative reviews than to take it down. However, It has been more than a few months since you have agreed to remove this review. The last thing we want is potential clients to be deterred from signing up with us after the fact we have addressed all issues and your expectations were met. We are once again requesting you update this truly misleading review and look forward to helping you on your next claim. Customer relations,

Long story short, rude and he care about is making a sale. I am a home buyer and calling around to see which home warranty would be best for me, as I explained to the sale person. I called to ask for more info on their coverage to see if their policies fit my new home. The sale agent did not want to listen to what I want to cover, he was more interested in giving me the sale pitch and he said everything would be covered. I didn't want to give him my full name or any contact info because I did not want to get hundreds of phone calls from different home warranty companies later asking me if I would like to buy coverage from them. I told him I just want to see if the systems I am worried... Read More

1)IMO American Home Guard Salesman use false statements about what is covered to sale warranties. Company management simply relies on the fine print of the warranty to refuse coverage of just about everything. Although salesman make statements in complete conflict with there contracts to sale the warranty. Management is unconcerned. 2) AHG advertises as a 5 star warranty provider and top rated but does not disclose who and where these rating come from. IMO There are no such rating for this company which amounts to false and misleading advertising which is consistent with the endorsed fraudulent sales practices of their employees. 3) When an issue arises, the company cannot... Thought I was getting a deal to get this coverage included with the purchase of my home. They rave about 24/7 support. In reality, someone will answer the phone 24/7, but they can't help you. They will take down your name and number and "forward it" to the right department for them to contact you. You will never receive a call back! Ever! Have been trying to get a gas leak fixed for months on my heater. Called multiple times. Nothing. Finally paid out of pocket because the nights are getting colder. Called to cancel the policy, they "forwarded" my info. I know how this story goes... I can't believe this company hasn't had a class action lawsuit yet. I did look them up on the BBB, guess... Client Services of American Home Guard Home Warranty
Hello Jason, First, we would like to address your claim of our company not being available 24/7 as advertised. Our toll-free number is available 365 days a year nights weekends and holidays. We are quite confused as to why you would believe we are not 24/7. The only possibility of your call not being answered would be if you were calling a specific representative during there off hours. Upon further review of your account there is no phone calls that reflect your request to file a claim with us in the first place. Unfortunately there are many companies in our industry with similiar names. It is completely possible you had called the wrong company to file a claim which resulted in the way that you feel. We attempted to address your claim several times, so please before writing such a harsh and incorrect review please explain every detail that did go on here. We had assigned an Executive Manager by the name of John spoke with you on October 12, Attempting to address any issues or concerns you might have had before filing this claim. Even though we had offered to send out our technitian that day you ultimately refused to continue our services and requested to cancel your coverage plan with us. Our manager John then explained the process of cancellation and how long it would take for you to recieve your refund check. It has been over several months since the day you have cashed your refund check. It has also been more than a few months since you have agreed to remove this review. The last thing we want is potential clients to be deterred from signing up with us after the fact we have addressed all issues and your expectations were met. We are once again requesting you update this truly misleading review and look forward to helping you on your next claim. Customer relations, Client Services,

The lighting in my bathrooms went out. The outlets work in the main bathroom but don't work in the master. Neither of them have lighting. We called American Home Guard over 30 days ago for a inspection and repair to be done. We call every other day to follow up. To date we still don't have a resolution . I would not recommend them to anyone.

Client Services of American Home Guard Home Warranty
Hi Heather, We have taken time to review your customer profile with us. It seems you purchased our most comprehensive coverage plan and added some additional coverage options with our sale representative on the initial sales call. The additional coverage options you purchased with us was for a limited roof leak coverage and a secondary refrigerator. You were given the option to purchase coverage for your lighting and plumbing fixtures but refused the additional coverage charge. Most customers refuse to add this additional coverage option despite our recommendation to purchase it. We believe they refuse to add the coverage because they might expect the repairs to be quite simple to fix or inexpensive to repair or replace. It is truly unfortunate you decided to refuse the addition of this coverage option when it was offered which resulted in your claims denial. You also mention that you have requested an inspection. Home Warranty Companies do not require a home inspection to sign up. The only way we can assure everything is working in the home at the moment and that there are no pre-existing conditions would be a 30-day waiting period for your policy or coverage to take effect. No home warranty covers home inspections. Home warranty companies cover your homes major systems and appliance due to normal wear and tear or mechanical breakdowns. We are requesting you update this truly misleading review as we have addressed all your requests and concerns accordingly. We are truly grateful we have had the opportunity to address and resolve all of your issues. Client Services,

I purchased their comprehensive policy in February 2017 and filed a claim for an electrical repair June 3,2017. No repair service ever contacted me and after multiple phone calls saying they were working on it, I decided to cancel my policy. I also reported them to the Pennsylvania Bureau of Consumer Affairs. I requested refunds which are pro rated and cost an additional handling fee of $75, I am still waiting for my refund as of Sept 11,2017. This place seems like a scam to me and should not be on your recommend list Barbara Anne Martin
