American Home Guard offers straightforward, transparent coverage plans for systems, appliances, or both. They also extend optional coverage for such items as pools or spas, sprinkler systems, roof leaks, well pumps, and septic tanks. AHG has a per-item benefit limit of $500 for heating and cooling equipment for the first three months of coverage, which increases to $2,000 after that initial period. Similarly, their benefit limit per appliances, plumbing, and electrical starts out at $150 and increases to $500 after the first three months. Although coverage amounts are limited during the initial coverage period, their repair and replacement allowance is quite generous when compared to that of similar providers, making them an excellent option for homeowners looking to get the most out of their dollar.

American Home Guard offers 12 month contracts for all their plans, which cost either $530 or $600 depending on whether the coverage selected is only for systems, appliances, or a combination. AHG plans may be canceled within 30 days or if no service has been provided under the contract, yet there will be a $75 cancellation fee plus any applicable service costs.

On January of 2017, the BBB identified a pattern of complaints against business and requested information from them regarding the matter. I had a bad problem with my Air conditioner last week. When I called in to file the claim and told me that I could use "Franks HVAC Repair". I was so happy they let me use him because he always did a great job. Very good job.

If I could give a negative, I would. As a Real Estate Broker we try various home warranties to know which we can confidently recommend to our Clients based on our own experience. We have tried many over the years. American Home Guard was very difficult to file a claim with, called the toll free claim #, was placed on hold 3x with a recorded message - for over 10 minutes. Went to the web site, their response was to transfer me to "info" no response after 5 minutes. Finally talked to someone and they said they would have a plumbing tech contact me, that didn't happen. Decided this way too difficult so decided to cancel, emailed them and told them I wanted to cancel due to unsatisfactory... Read More

I happen to be one of American home guard's vendors. We service HVAC & Major Appliances. I have been with them for 10 years, they've sent me a large amount of work. Had to write them a review after all this time. They have been extremely fast with payment. If you are a contractor or technician you should speak with a gentleman by the name of Avery.

I bought this plan to specifically cover all of my systems. Adam told me it would be better to cover both so nothing would be left out. I'm glad I listened to him. Earlier this month I had to have my whirlpool refrigerator replaced because the motor failed and we couldn't find the part. Gerald in the claims department made sure the replacement unit was shipped out and installed that week. Very happy with the way it turned out.

I bought a full home warranty in August, 2016. The salesman, Joe Williams was very personable...however he tried to pressure me into buying more than a year's warranty. As it turned out I am grateful I stood my ground. I also would not buy until he included my icemaker because several of my friends had problems with ice makers. He issued me a contract with that included on the cover sheet. Sure enough, in March my ice maker decided to die and refused to make ice. I called AHG and asked how to submit a claim. This company is a nightmare. I purchased it last year July and they were very pushy that I buy the annual plan and now I am stuck as they won't give me my money back. I first called them in October for my AC as the thermostat was not working. It took them a week before they took any action. I finally got it taken care on my own as I could nkt wait any longer. Then in March I had issues with my stove top and couple of days later my garage door opener. They asked me which one was a priority and I mentioned that I needed to get my garage door fixed asap so they sent a technician for that and fixed it but I am still waiting to hear from a tech for my stove top. I was asked to write this review after my first claim. I had an issue with my garage door opener. For some reason the motor would turn on but the door wouldn't go up when I pushed the button. I called for service the next day and they set up an appointment for the garage guy to get here. He replaced the motor for me all I had to pay was my $60 service fee which was wasn't too bad. I hope nothing else goes wrong but for what it's worth there willing to work with you.
