Cancellation Policy

Select reserves the right to cancel the service contract in the event of fraudulent conduct or misrepresentations by the customer, failure to make the required payments, or upon agreement. The customer may cancel the agreement within 30 days from the order date of the agreement and will be entitled to a full refund only if no service has been provided under the contract. After 30 days, the customer may receive a pro-rated refund for the non-discounted annual plan cost. The customer will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, plus any service expenses incurred by Select Home Warranty.

This is the worst company I dealt with all my life. They convinced me to by Executive VIP membership and for multiple years. I did. I had my HVAC system failed. 20 days after the date I submit the claim, my HVAC was not repaired but what was worst was that except the first correspondence there were no other correspondence about the status of my claim. I ended up calling almost every other day to get a status since no response and since I was told to wait for 24 to 48 hours for decision. This has been the worst experience I have ever had trying to cancel a policy. First of all, they let me sit for 3 days in over 100 degree weather before telling me they couldn’t find a technician and I had to get my own. Fine. After reading the small print, I realized their policy would not cover what was wrong with my AC (which is fine, every company has their restrictions, etc.) but since I had to just fork out $8k for a new AC Unit, I wanted my money back that I JUST paid for this policy - over $1200 for 3 years. Mr Hemminger was unable to find the policy I thought I had signed up for. but worked diligently until he located the problem. I somehow had a number that was wrong so the computer coud not find me but a person did.

Don't fall for the scam this company is. We had a very pushy salesman so we finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase the best plan Select Home Warranty had to offer. We ran into some issues with our HVAC system and called SHW to start the claims process (we live in Houston, TX and this was in the middle of the Summer so we had no AC during 100° weather). They sent 3 different technicians out from their recommended companies (we had to pay $75 service call for each, so now we're out $225) who were unable to diagnose the issues, so we went most of the summer with an AC unit that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.
