Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

This company...it hurts to even call them a "company"...is beyond bad. The contractors they hire are less competent than my dog. Nobody can do anything (Order a part, make a service call, answer the phone.) without 30 days notice. UNLESS, they think they you owe them money. Then they're calling YOU every 3 minutes. Our microwave has been broken now for more than a month. We have been through 2 contractors and still have no hope of a healthy, happy microwave. Our first contractor, Sears, came out within a week. "Great!" We thought, "What could possibly go wrong with Sears? The Tech walked in the house, looked at the microwave and said, because it was an over- the... Read More

Don't waste your time with HSA b/c there are better home warranties companies. They will try their hardest to find an exclusion in the contract so they will not have to cover it. You will not know if something is covered until after you pay the $75 service fee, and a service team diagnosis' the issue. We found out twice now something that we thought should be covered was not. A simple blockage in the plumbing because the tech had to take the toilet off to access the pipe. Also the sump pump even though it clearly says sump pump is covered. Read the contract carefully if you do get them. It is very hard to get someone on the phone to talk to.

This is a horrible company. I had received the first year when I bought my house. The second year I bought it again for peace of mind. In my third year when I tried to use the service it was nightmarish. Immediately charged my fee of $75. The repair service did nothing because the item was "not covered" Pressure tank for well. I had made two service calls before they explained that even though it is part of the well systems that particular piece was not covered. Repair company was rude also. So, I did not renew. HSA auto renewed and charged my account I finally got the to stop and they are refusing to give me back my three months of payments that I never authorized. HSA never provided me a... Read More

This company is absolutely the worst. I have never had such a horrendous experience in my life. I needed service in the middle of a cold spell on my furnace. I was immediately charged $100.00 and told someone would come out in 3 to 5 days. I requested the service call to be canceled and I would handle things on my own. They did but still charged me for the service request. Thankfully American Express refused payment. These people are absolute frauds. Trying to not renew is ridiculous as well. NO means NO but they just keep trying.

Stay away! Very dishonest. its been 3 weeks without hot water and we have a new born in the house. They take atleast a week for every step. Its been 2 weeks since I asked them to email me the estimate as they informed me that I have pay extra for things that are not covered. I still haven't got any email from them. They make you desperate so that you would just do anything to get things done and don't ask questions. I am glad my warranty is expiring in a month. I will make sure no one in my circle end up taking this warranty. There is no way you can talk anyone other than some low level customer care rep sitting somewhere in another country. Even those reps have limited info so they... Read More

Very bad experience this HSA Home Warranty. Totally hoax! When I need to fix a peak. They charged $100 and then send in a technician to tell me it is not included, but still charge me with $100. The technician will fix the problem with much higher price than normal. No point of buying this HSA Home Warranty.

Working with HSA for has been nothing but an issue. The furnace went out during a March cold spell in Ohio in the inlaw suite in our home where 2 older adults live, one who has a terminal neurological condition where temperature, heart rate and blood pressure (autonomic nervous system) control is an issue. I was told they couldn't get parts for 2-3 weeks because of the pandemic- it's been a year at this point we've all had to figure out to operate in a pandemic so not sure why this would still be an issue. Temporary heaters were never offered and when I asked was told I'd have to by and could submit for reimbursement up to $75. The customer service rep kept repeating the same... Read More

Not worth the money. Better off paying for services. You do not need a Warranty company that makes you pay every time service is needed. We had a dishwasher claim, had to pay 100 for the service company to fix it. 90 days later same problem dishwasher went out. Had to pay another 100 for service to come out. We could have Just bought a new dishwasher instead. This Warranty is not worth the paper is is printed on!!

I would highly recommend you DO NOT use HSA!! There is no one you can talk to in the USA for any problems you may have. And they say they will contact you and they don't. My furnace broke and it was cold they told me to find someone and then they didn't want today because I didn't have it approved, which we did, and now we are fighting to get paid for it. And we already paid the man that came to fix it. DISLIKE THIS COMPANY!!! DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!
