Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out. Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

Terrible company! Can barely get an agent to answer the phone and when you do you get a different answer every time you speak to someone. I have been waiting for over three weeks for an A/C part. Plus I have to pay an extra $500 because it is supposedly a modification, not a repair. Tried to cancel their service and I continually get the runaround that a supervisor is supposed to call me. Buyer beware. Save yourself money and the headache find a better business.

Very poor experience. Never hear back. No follow up plan. You will wait months until YOU finally call them back to get an update. Usually has not moved a hair from previous call. On hold for 15 plus minutes every time. Use another provider please. Stuck with them as previous home owner bought the “coverage” for us. Useless!!! Would rate a zero if can.

I would rate this company below 1 star if I could. Complete incompetence. I spent over 10 hours, spoke to over 20 agents over a course of 2 weeks for a very simple issue and they kept giving me the go around without any help or resolution to my problem. I am convinced it is a money collecting scheme where they collect and could care less if you actually get the service you requested. The trouble is there is no place to file a complaint or no phone number to speak to a manager to escalate the issue . Be weary of such companies.

If I could give ZERO stars I would!!! Stay away from this company. They will take your money and not fix items that need to be replaced. the AC company that came out to our house stated we needed a new AC unit but HSA warranty company decided just to replace parts and not the whole unit so that it met their exclusion criteria and we had to pay out of pocket over 1,000. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THESE THEIVES AND HORRIBLE CSUTOMER SERVICE. They do NOT have their customers best interest at heart. They will take your money and do absolutely nothing for you.

A huge scam. Paid a $100.00 deductible and got nothing. Was told by repair company system was old and goodbye. HSA refuses to refund me.

Generally HSA Warranty would take the service fee charge out of my account after the service call has been completed. However, this time around HSA Warranty took the service fee charge out of my account right up front when I placed a request for service on or about July 28, 2021 for my washing machine. HSA Warranty took 12 days to find a contractor in Illinois and I live in Wisconsin. The contractor never contacted me. So I hired a contractor to come out to fix the problem and paid out of my pocket. HSA Warranty refused to reimburse me for my out-of-pocket expense, and have not reimbursed me for the service fee charge that was taken out of my bank account. I contacted HSA and asked... First, it would be nice to speak with someone that you can understand. Next, they promised me that my washing machine tub would be covered if I upgrade to their 7 Star Plan today, so I asked them to verify with their supervisor and was assured. I upgraded, then 2 days later they said they won't cover it due to pre-existing issue. I should have gotten the supervisors name, but it probably still wouldn't help. Still trying to get it resolved.....on hold for over ten minutes, then call got disconnected. I call back and you can never get the same person. I requested that the person call me back or a supervisor call me back and.......I'm still waiting. Very frustrated and disappointed!

This company is horrendously bad. I believe they are running a scam with many of their service providers to avoid repairs. It took over a week to get someone out to look at my HVAC and they misdiagnosed it and then falsified the report with HSA and said that lightning hit the unit- which it did not. They said I needed a new compressor but they wouldn't pay for it. We had a 3rd party out and it was a disconnected wire which was quickly and inexpensively repaired. We waited a week without air in the heat of summer for no reason. Their call center is overseas and totally useless and it is impossible to escalate anything.
