Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

I called for ice maker-charge $100 twice as it still wasn't repaired after the first visit. Had to have a private plumber come out to see what it was and the water line was connected to hot water line so no ice would be made. I called for my oven repair. You sent someone that has never worked on this kind of oven before, stated he really didn't know what was wrong with it, based on our discription is going to go with the computer needing to be replaced, not sure how to get it out of the cupboard and doesn't want to be held liable for any damages. We waited 2 1/2 weeks with no oven and now are waiting another 3 weeks for the part. Today I called for emergency furnace not working. It is 10... Read More

This company is a rip off, don't waste your money. We bought a home warranty on the home we purchased in May 2020 on the recommendation of our real estate agent Kerrie Schumate. We were going to have a home inspection but our agent said there were no good home inspection agents in the area we were looking, but suggested we buy a home warranty which would cost about the same as a home inspection. Kerrie Schumate said she only recommended HSA warranty because they were the best that she had found. We paid the $500 fee at closing. In October of 2020 we were not getting heat out of our system. We reported a claim to HSA and they assigned a contractor telling us we would be contacted... Read More

We need be allowed negative stars here. The BAD: My garbage disposal stopped working and a toilet had always drained slowly. I called about both and they only charged me one service fee ($75) to send someone out to look at both issues in one visit. He was there the next day. The garbage disposal was replaced on the spot at no cost to me. THE BAD: He tried to snake the toilet and couldn't get it to pass. He said the toilet would have to come off to find the clog, but that there was a tiny crack in the base and it would certainly shatter and need to be completely replaced. He submitted a report to HSA, telling me they'd call to schedule the appt. Didn't hear anything and called... Read More

HSA Home Warranty has poor customer service, doesn't cover enough, and uses lower-end contractors and materials on home repair jobs, even under their premium plan. The company's guiding principle appears to be to avoid paying. We've wasted hours on the phone with them for even the simplest, most obvious request. Their call center agents are not fast, efficient, knowledgeable or helpful. One person will tell you something, then another person will contradict it later, and there is no traceability or accountability when this happens; it wastes a lot of time and is very frustrating. You can never escalate to a supervisor or manager. Several times they told us a supervisor or manager... Read More

Awful service. Waited 40 days for repair on washer. Spent over 20 hours waiting for repair man on 4 different appointments. All contact with repair company except for initial appointment was done by me. Cancelled my contract.

Worst company I have ever worked with. Their customer service people are of little help. Unfortunately, like alot of organizations they have contracted internationally for customer service, so even communication is difficult. Their game is to run you around in circles until you give up and get the product repaired yourself. My stove went down on 11/19, as of Dec 7th I still cannot get them to to repair the product. Worse they do not contact any of their contractors in advance to determine if they service your particular product, so they have now charged me for two service calls that the contractor has not shown up when they learn the make and model of the appliance. They say their... Read More

Do not give them a penny. They will do anything/tell you anything so as no to pay you. They couldn’t find a service man to fix our boiler. We found one he had to send them a letter to get approved. After he was approved he did the job. We had to pay him. That was 6 months ago. First they said they didn’t have the bill. Then they said we sent it to the wrong email. Then we had to wait for it to be approved. Oh yeah we had to pay them $100. Up front before they would even take our 2nd call. After 6 calls the check is in the mail. We should get it in 10 working days. That was a month ago. I called again so now the lady is going to tell them we didn’t get the check. We were insured for... Read More

An absolute scam that drained me of $1,500 and countless hours spent talking to customer service over two years with absolutely zero benefit to myself. If nothing else, the technicians they've referred me to all have 1 star Yelp reviews, and customer reps for HSA don't seem to care when this is pointed out to them. "We don't base our companies off of online reviews," they said, but YOU dear stranger can still base your decisions off of HSA's terrible reviews. Stay far, far away.

I have been waiting for someone to fix a major water leak on a home I purchased just a month ago. Put in a request on 9/25. This is 9/29 still do not have water. If I could rate them with a negative I would. My home is on slab and the plumbers they sent out do not have the equipment to find the leak. So they let HSA know that someone needed to come out and find the leak so they could fix it. I gave them the name of the only company in this state that could do this and they still have not contacted them and set an appointment. I told them this on 9/28.
