Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out. Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

HSA is not a member of the NHSCA the company isn't rated by the BBB. Their parent company, American Home Shield, however earned a B rating. HSA receives 1 out of 5 stars on TrustPilot, but that is based on a single review and may not be representative of their service.

There is nothing good to say about this company. What other reviewers have said is correct. Do not waste your money buying a contract from this company. It's a waste of money.

Terrible experience. Worst customer service. If you like waiting hours on hold to try to get in touch with a representative and paying hundreds of dollars to no result, go with HSA.

This company does not honor ANY service requests under their contract terms. There is a delay to speak to actual live person at any given time for about 30-40 mins to discourage such connection. Then agents find a caveat for every single angle, for things that were supposedly covered. It is as if they are trained to do so. Furthermore, the compensation to a service provider/contractor is the SAME or LESS without them. There is no benefit to this warranty and customers never receive the ANY value of the money invested into the program. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM. BUYER BEWARE.

Terrible experience. Emergency issue no working furnace and their system is under maintentance. No one could assist me. Was told to call back 2 to 4 hours. It has been over 6 hours and still can’t get through to anyone. I feel even if I do get through to someone they will be useless after reading all the terrible reviews on other sites. Incredibly disappointing as they have taken thousands of dollars from me and I can’t get help when it is needed most. I will make it known to every one I know and speak to realtors I know to make sure they never use them.

HORRIBLE CONTRACTOR NETWORK. Do not have the intelligence for "specialized systems" such as integrated HVAC systems from Trane. They replace with higher SEER ratings but from unknown companies and DO NOT REPLACE with like for like, brand for brand. Then try to get on a phone call with them - AN HOUR WAIT, AT LEAST. No customer advocates to help out - poor poor poor service for customers. WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Horrible contractors, the WORST customer service. You would be better off paying out of pocket. Their contractor said he fixed my furnace and when I went to use it, it almost burnt my house down. You cant get through to anyone unless you wait an hour. When you do, they don't help you and you cant talk to a supervisor. And for the President that is saying people get verbally abusive and irate...that's because your service is horrible. How would you feel if your house was 85 degrees or 30 degrees because of someone elses work and the people you are paying DONT GIVE A DAMN. REALTORS PLEASE DONT PUT YOUR CLIENTS IN THIS POSITION> DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

I was provided an HSA Home Warranty when I purchased my home 13 YR ago. My Premium started out at $480 and is now up to $700. HSA has replaced the downstairs heat pump twice and the upstairs and downstairs air handler. They've also covered a broken pipe, broken dish washer and leaking hot water heater. Over all, they've lost money one me. Like the other Home Warranty companies I've used, the service companies are unhappy to do work for HSA because they get paid a discount rate. Unfortunately for home owners who are not mechanically inclined and experienced as I am, when I personally "walked the repair through system" the repairs were always covered in a reasonable fashion. Many,... Read More

PLEASE READ ALL OF THEIR REVIEWS AND DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH HSA! Got a home warranty from HSA on an older home that we just purchased. Many appliances, HVAC, roof, etc. were older, so we thought it would be a good idea. Called them after the AC unit didn't work. It cost me $100 deductible and it took a couple days for the HVAC contractor to call us and set up the service call. The air handler and evaporator coil were only a couple years old, so no issues with it. Upon checking the condensing unit, he found that the compressor had been replaced with one that uses a different refrigerant type....they're made for two different types of refrigerant or "freon." The contractor said it... Read More

6 weeks after we moved into our (HSA warranty covered) home, our air conditioner stopped working for about a day. And, before we realized we were covered by home warranty, we contacted a local HVAC company who came out and told us the coil has a leak and needs replaced. So, when we remembered we were covered, we contacted HSA. When the HSA HVAC guy came, he agreed there is a leak and the coil needs to be replace. However, he stated he was instructed by HSA to patch it, not fix it. And, now after we paid the $100 deductible, he won't even patch it because the first HVAC guy topped off the liquid. So, when/if it breaks down again (after a year), we'll have to pay the $5,000 out of our own... Read More

This has to be one of the worst home warranties out there. They use off the wall contractors and don't stand behind them. They don't relay information to the contractors as needed. Be prepared for a simple repair to take three to four days. You will lose more money taking off work and waiting around, let alone the hour or two on phone just to try and make appointments. Run, don't walk to someone else.
