Overall Rating: 2 / 5 (Poor)

Fidelity National's prices are inline with industry standards, though their service fees are slightly higher, and its guaranteed response time is a bit longer than that of other companies. We feel the need to mention that Fidelity National has been the target of a state insurance regulatory action and a class action suit, requiring that customers give up their right to a jury trial in any legal dispute.

Coverage Options - 3 / 5

Fidelity National covers many of the usual systems and appliances, as well as a few specialty items. However, coverage for refrigerators, washers/dryers, air conditioning units, pool and spa equipment and septic tank leaks and roof leaks are not part of the standard coverage, but must be purchased separately when the contract is signed. Unlike some other home warranty companies, the company does not cover system or appliance failures due to lack of maintenance.

Fidelity National is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It has four positive reviews and 112 negative ones and 549 customer complaints. However, it is not unusual in this industry for companies to have numerous negative customer reviews and complaints. The company has no presence on Trust Pilot. In 2012, the company settled a claim against it by the Insurance Commissioner of California which alleged that the company had unlawfully paid rebates and offered inducements to real estate brokers. The company agreed to cease and desist from the allegedly unlawful practices and paid a settlement of $1.25 million and attorneys fees of $175,000, but admitted no wrongdoing. In 2008, a class action suit was brought in California against Fidelity National which alleged false advertising and insurance bad faith. The case resulted in four separate appeals and was eventually refiled.

Wish I could select "0". I'm so disgusted by your quality of service and credibility of your warranty because I got burnt by one of your contractors who came to my home to fix the Gas Range and in-turn broke the glass top. If the company had been willing to stand behind the warranty, I'd have given 4 stars (taken off one star for quality of Contractors). Here goes the story... - On March 20th, the Service Tech came home to "fix" our Gas range that was having ignition issues as well as a burner that was intermittently going off. Same morning I had used the range (for breakfast) and didn't see any damage. BIGGEST REGRET: NOT TAKING PICTURES OF MY APPLIANCE BEFORE TECH ARRIVAL & NOT... Read More

I had to call to call the customer service line on 2 different occasions. What I found was both representative to be very nice, very helpful, understanding, very personable and sympathic to my situation! I couldn't have asked for better service. I'm just sorry I didn't get their names to have them personally recognized! So for that I give them 5 stars!

FNHW is border line fraud. Here is my example: refrigerator - broke down. Called the warranty line and they send a tech, 3 days later. Temperatures outside are around 75. Long story short, they dispatch the tech 4 times, the refrigerator can not be fixed, and the tech informs the FNHW that the refrigerator is "irreparable". Many calls to the warranty line to obtain a resolution. Every single time there is some one "surprised" to hear that. They send a NEW tech out, other company. By this time they have paid in repairs and techs more than 1/2 of the value of a new refrigerator. Still "irreparable". 1 1/2 months later, they are still looking into the issue. Temperatures are now outside over... Read More

Fidelity National Home Warranty is a scam. The take your money and provide no service or support. We have a dishwasher problem that is now in the sixth week of non-repair. They sent a service company that replaced the same part 3 times. They finally admitted that they were not qualified to repair a high end dishwasher. But The Fidelity Staff in California has been rude and non-helpful. They just hung up on me when I asked for a manager. They said that hey would "put in a request" for a manager to call me. I plan to put the word out on this scam company on all avenues of Social Media. They are purely dishonest. I just sent a letter to three Better Business Bureau Offices to Give... Read More

Phone wait times greater than 30 minutes. Took two days to dispatch a plumber who took another two days to make it out to the site. Two more days to get a call back from Fidelity that my claim was denied. Waste of time and money for the likely small fixes you will have come up around your house. I have no confidence that Fidelity would actually help you out in a timely manner if something big were to break. Would not recommend. Will absolutely not work with Fidelity in the future. Will advise other homeowners to look elsewhere.

If there was a negative selection I would select it. I am a first time home buyer and called Fidelity as my Home loan came with it. I have a shower valve leak and the plumber came out and told me that I am missing a part and to go buy a part and it will fix it. He did nothing and I was charged $75. Then because he turned my water main on and off when he came out there was a drip from the main so I asked them to have it checked, they charged me another $75 for the plumber to come out and tighten a nut. The two services were related. Then I had a main blockage and the same plumber came out and could not locate my clean out. He told me I need to get one installed and left. The company charged... Horrifically dishonest company. Would give them a zero star if I could. I had a contract with them for two years. They repeatedly sent out repair companies who were grossly incompetent and put out the minimum of effort with very poor workmanship. My nightmare began having an A/C-furnace go out last June. We live in the desert near Palm Springs. We were just leaving the area for 3 months and could not return. They would not allow our usual HVAC repair company, Hides AC, to do the work. Instead, they sent out a single man and wife company - Dove Air. He came out and said he needed to replace my top of the line American Standard unit with a cheaper Payne unit. I paid $75 service... I contacted fidelity NHW about my broken garage door basically being derailed from its chain. They sent a guy who didn't seem to want to fix it either being lazy or indifferent or purely incompetent., so made up a story as to how old the door was, that it needed maintenance none of which would be covered by FNHW. So I got another company and was very easily fixed since the chain from the motor had disconnected not needing any more work as the Fidelity assigned vendor had indicated. when I complained to FNHW they would rather believe the vendor so that they didn't have to cover me refused to send me another vendor for a second opinion although they charged me $75 for doing nothing.... I am having Electrical issues with a underground wire to my well pump. I called and was told they would not cover the wire replacement due to it being underground. The wire runs the well that supplies water to my home, the wire is part of my electrical system. What good does it do to have this type of insurance if all they want to cover is things you can have fixed yourself for less than the deductible is. Save your money and don't do any business with these people and look else where.

I've been trying to have an appliance fixed for the past 6 months. FNHW sent someone out about a week after I reported an issue with the appliance. The repair person they sent was not familiar with that model of appliance and said that it appears to be an electrical issue caused by chewed wires by rodents. Fast forward, I called GE out and they said it was due to a faulty thermostat and other sensors. GE gave me a quote although FNHW is still challenging it. Save your time in phone calls (and money) and go elsewhere.
