Established in 2008, New Jersey based Choice Home Warranty is one of the newer nationwide providers of home warranties on the market. 


Choice Home Warranty provides good coverage for basic home systems and appliances. They also offer a green star feature that replaces energy star compliant products.

Air conditioning/ cooler
Heating system or built-in wall unit
Water heater
Electrical system
Plumbing system/ stoppage

Fine Print

You can cancel your contract within the first 30-days of your order date for a refund of the paid contract fees, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company. 


Final Thoughts – Choice Home Warranty

Choice Home Warranty is fairly new in the home warranty industry. But this should not make them any less attractive than other companies in terms of the breadth of coverage or level of service. Also, the Green Star feature makes it attractive to homeowners requiring special coverage for these items.

I had two homes and 2 warranties, the list is two long for this little space, but stay away from this company. I used their HVAC service person to have the bi-annual service work done in order to be in compliance (you have to have your HVAC serviced twice a year or they will NOT cover a repair). Even after doing that they still denied a claim because Choices repair person did not list the model number of the repair on the invoice. When I told them it was their service provider they did nothing to help get them to include the model number, so they denied the claim. I was able to submit my claim on line on the weekend. The process was very easy. I had a quick reply with the contractor information, and my appliance was repaired within 2 days. Very easy and fast.

Never had a chance to even experience being a customer because they were so ignorant while trying to sell me a warranty...I asked him to call me during my break. I wanted to look quote that they sent me. He was annoyed by our 2 minute conversation because I told him I had some comparisons I would like to do. If you are a good company you are not afraid for a person to compare. His Supervisor just dismissive. Guess it just narrows down my search. Glad they showed themselves now!

The repairman was extremely knowledgeable, knew the system, diagnosed the problem and repaired it! All this took about 30 minutes and he even explained to me what the problem was! Very professional and very courteous. I would certainly recommend this service and am certainly glad Choice chose someone so reliable to make the repair!

They may rank this company as number four; but from my personal experience with them. I don't put them in the top ten at all. I paid upfront for my coverage and once my hot water heater required replacement I was told NO we only cover the outside parts of the hot water heater not the inside rotting out from normal use.

I recently purchased 6 policies but as a landlord I often forget that I have them. When a tenant calls me, I respond and that's what Iv'e continued to do. A tenant told me that their dishwasher was broken, so I ordered a new one and had it delivered. A few weeks later, I called Choice to explain my dilimma, taking full ownership for not taking advantage of the policy. I could have had the unit repaired. The representative said she would send a check for the amount of the dishwasher. I did not expect that! I will remember to use them from now on.
