Choice Home Warranty Review

Established in 2008, New Jersey based Choice Home Warranty is one of the newer nationwide providers of home warranties on the market. 

Coverage

Choice Home Warranty provides good coverage for basic home systems and appliances. They also offer a green star feature that replaces energy star compliant products.

Fine Print

You can cancel your contract within the first 30-days of your order date for a refund of the paid contract fees, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company. 

 

Final Thoughts – Choice Home Warranty

Choice Home Warranty is fairly new in the home warranty industry. But this should not make them any less attractive than other companies in terms of the breadth of coverage or level of service. Also, the Green Star feature makes it attractive to homeowners requiring special coverage for these items.

I as a widow, was very concerned about what I wield do if my appliances and other things in my house started breaking down, so I bought your program. A few months later, my refrigerator did break down. When I called, I talked to a very sweet woman who helped me right away. A repair man, who was so very nice and helpful came out to fix it. He got it running but needed to order two parts to keep it running. I was told that they no longer make those parts, so in 30 days, this company is sending me a check for $380.00 to purchase a new refrigerator. The management team was very understanding of our issue with the air conditioner, and even though our problem wasn't covered, they still were able to provide me with a payment made out to me because of our loyal service!

Choice Home Warranty is by far the most disreputable company I've ever had the displeasure to work with. After purchasing their service based on the positive feedback on this site, I submitted my first claim and quickly realized what an awful mistake I'd made. I got the run around from the "certified technician" who either lied to me or lied to CHW which resulted in a claim denial. When I called in to discuss the problem with CHW, I was rudely bounced to four different "customer service" people. They tried to talk me out of the claim and tried to talk me out of cancelling the service when I'd had enough of their B*. They refused to refund my full purchase price and made it all my... Filing a claim online is easy and getting an acknowledgement of your claim within a few minutes is great. I filed a claim on Sunday afternoon and was assigned a technician that same afternoon. The technician came out Monday morning, diagnosed the problem and sent the information to Choice for approval. It was approved on Tuesday; the contractor came back first thing Wednesday morning and by 11:00 am on Wednesday my AC is working again! The company that was assigned, Fast Lane Mechanical, was awesome. They were very professional, explained the problem, and the process for approval and then installation. We have had Choice Home Warranty for over a year. About two weeks ago our microwave stopped working so we called Choice Home Warranty and received a prompt response from both the company and the repairman. It was determined by Choice Home Warranty that it would be better to replace our microwave rather than fix it and that they would mail a check to us in the next 30 days. When we began to look at replacing the same model and make as our old microwave we found that it was going to cost about $100.00 more than what Choice Home Warranty had quoted. And when we called back they said that was the way it was done and that they took and average of several brands and gave you that average.... Read More

On my claim regarding my air conditioner, ReDo appliance was dispatched to handle the problem. I received a call from the Company within 2 hours of submitting my claim. An appointment was set for the next day. The technician called to advise he was enroute. He arrived, checked the unit, corrected the problem.This company had been dispatched before, and I must say I am very satisfied with the work they have done for me thus far, in fact I am using them for another problem that has occured with my refrigerator, as it is a leak, a problem which choice does not cover.

I have had CHW for 3 plus years now. Recently, I have had to use there services on more than one occasion. The fine print states they will replace the dishwasher with a suitable sub. They only offered $130. Another time, my heating coils needed to be replaced. They only provided a small percentage of the cost. I'm not pleased with the services. When I asked why they don't honor what is stated they said, "we still incur other charges that you as the customer don't see." I called the repair man myself and asked what were the total charges and found out I was being lied too. They also take up to 30 days to send you a check 'if you receive' any assistance at all.
