Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

They are very responsive and dispatch quickly, even on the weekends. I filed a claim on after 7pm on a Saturday and the appointment was scheduled by the time I woke up on Sunday. The repair tech even came out Sunday evening.

You really do a great job taking care of my appliances. I went with your company because you promised quality care and you did just that on my recent A/C repair. Specifically, when no responder came on a weekend claim, you paid for my repairs by a company I contacted locally. Thank you. 4 stars because some of your responders take a week to arrive.

The CS representatives at this company seem to be very service focused. I do have some complaints about the first company they assigned our work order. Two service techs came out, the first giving us one diagnosis and the second the complete opposite. Neither fixed the problem, but did an unrelated repair. When I attempted to reach CHOICE again the phone lines were so busy, I hung up after 15 minutes. I attempted to reach them by email which generated another work order, assigned to a different company. When I contacted CHOICE by phone and explained what had happened the agent was quite helpful and discovered that the first repair company had not turned in their work order... Read More

There service is the WORST. Impossible to get approvals for repairs. Impossible to reach anyone for assistance. Took over a month and many hours of effort to get a simple fan replaced on a refrigerator. Save your money. Try another warranty service

I am glad I got the warranty but they were very annoying calling me 4 times a day. Call give me info let me review and I will let YOU know when I’m ready. Also when I did call all the lady wanted to do was take my money and rush me off the phone. I started questioning and she was annoyed with me and couldn’t wait to hang up and move to the next sale. Typical sales person.

I have never been so frustrated with Choice or your contractors. The first 2 contractors assigned did not have a 28-foot ladder and therefore were unable to get onto the roof of the 2 story condo complex. Luckily, the third one was great and fixed it right away. These ridiculous delays cost me $400 in fines due to not having AC in the unit for over a week. In addition, the wait time for your call centers must be reduced. I was in Mexico on a family vacation and was on hold for 30 minutes or more several times waiting for a representative. Having to forgo family dinners and trips to sit on hold in the hotel room is absolutely not acceptable. Your call center people were helpful and polite... Read More

I called Choice Home Warranty on Friday afternoon late to tell them I need to initiate a claim for my non-cooling A/C unit. They immediately got back with me with a company that could come out on Sunday morning. The A/C company called me on Saturday morning early and asked if they could come then. Yes of course. They came down from Troy Alabama and repaired immediately. I was vert happy and very impressed.
