Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Very pushy, tried to tell me that they had great ratings with the Better Business Bureaus and I believed him and found they had a B- rating. Talked to locals where I live and they said they did not pay like they said they would. Trying to cancel but they seem to not want to do that. May have to get a lawyer to get of my contract. Very Upset at this time.

This claim was handled more promptly and better than any of my others. First, I had a very quick response to my email. Sun and Sail Construction was fantastic as well. Mr. Bittman, the owner, was professional, extremely polite and kind, making the necessary suggestions to me to so that I can avoid further difficulties with my air conditioning and furnace.

Very unreliable terrible tech with the first one. Who refused to even perform any repairs. Did not bother to enter the residence. Just drove off. And company did nothing to resend tech. Or to even attempt to do the repairs contracted to perform. Really awful experience the worst by far I have ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called about my washer, I was very impressed with the fast response time to my problem. Nick Foust was very knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. He identified the problem, ordered the part and made an appointment to return & finish the job. I had been with other Warranty companies & was not satisfied with the maintenance companies they sent Very happy with CHW

The claim filing was fast and easy. My only objection was the ceiling fan that was replaced in my home was not that same that was their prior. I don't think it is the same size and if does not have the same light fixture. Like I stated I liked the fast service and even the contractor but I think when making a replacement is should be the same (IE: if the light fixture has three bulbs the replacement should not have a one bulb fixture)

Purchased a plan today and contacted my sales rep who was not readily available to answer questions. The customer service person who answered the phone was somewhat rude when I asked for his name (Taylor) and there was a done of background noise. I left a message for my rep and sent an email. So far no response.

They did not cover a leaky faucet; fix or replacement denied. The Subs they used were inept, and mostly made up of journeymen or non-professionals. Stood up for over two weeks by one, even Choice could not contact them. Choice finally sent me a check & told me to find one on my own. Of course what they sent would not cover the price of parts & maintenance. Worse warranty company on the planet!
