With no term benefit limit set, appliances are capped at $500, while systems are limited to $2,000. In the case of Select’s yearlong base-level contract, no home inspection is required prior to full coverage. For the sake of education and peace-of-mind, this company provides a sample contract and quote calculator on their website. In exchange for a $75 administration fee, they also offer a pro-rated refund if the initial 30 days have expired.

Cancellation Policy

Select reserves the right to cancel the service contract in the event of fraudulent conduct or misrepresentations by the customer, failure to make the required payments, or upon agreement. The customer may cancel the agreement within 30 days from the order date of the agreement and will be entitled to a full refund only if no service has been provided under the contract. After 30 days, the customer may receive a pro-rated refund for the non-discounted annual plan cost. The customer will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, plus any service expenses incurred by Select Home Warranty.

In addition to requiring maintenance records in order to provide service, Select also insists that they be notified. If they are not, then reimbursement may be forfeited.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This place is a SCAM! 1st complaint: Wife clogged the kitchen sink on thanksgiving - called Select Home Warranty - 5 days later someone came out 5 hours late for the appointment - wasn't able to unclog the sink. Said he would have to call the warranty for approval for someone else to try. NEVER heard back from anyone - 2 weeks later we were able to finally get it fixed but on our own. 2nd complaint: We are covered under plumbing - but when the temperature outside dropped our plumbing started making weird noises and we lost water pressure in our 2nd bathroom all together - we submitted a claim online to Select Home Warranty on January 9th - never heard from them... I must tell you, I have been probably one of your longest clients being with you for almost 15 years. 5 years in New Jersey, and almost 8 years in Maryland until my most recent move. Why do people have to jump through all of the burdens to get paid a simple claim?? And then when they ask for reinburstment for a year they have paid but are not using you still charge them a $75 fee??

So far this has been terrible customer service. I have waited almost a month to get my washer fixed and to have anyone contact me other than to say my claim has been assigned. First time it was assigned I waited a week to have the repair service call me. They did not return my calls. I was assigned another service this past week but as yet have had NO ONE call me. Calling the claims number only results in being transferred around and at least a 15 minute hold period. Unfortunately I paid for three years and I wish I hadn't!!

WARNING!!!!! If you are considering purchasing a home warranty, PLEASE DO NOT USE SELECT HOME WARRANTY. I did my research and they were rated #1. We purchased their warranty in July 2017, needed help with refrigerator in November2017. Contacted them, followed their rules, contacted the person they gave us to use. It needs a fan motor. Now in January 2018 they tell me they will pay for part, but no installation and no labor cost. This applies to any repair you need a new part to fix your problem. From a fan motor to your refrigerator or a new heat and air unit. As Usual the serviceman was very good and his competence showed. He came and asked where the problem was and went to work and did a very thorough job. My AC unit was also checked and they also sent me a very good plumber when temperture was not right.

Last request with Select Home Warranty serviceman, sadly started at 8pm right before Christmas. The SHW rep calmed me down and said I would get a call. Mandi called me and told me to go under the sink and block the water until he got there. While he was in my home he had to blow torch the pipe and repair the leak so that it would stop. I am grateful even on Christmas someone could come.

They pay very slowly when I had an eligible reimbursement--I'm still waiting for a check after 6 weeks and many promises from them that a check is already in the mail. They don't have contractors readily available in my town, near a major city, so I have to call my own service provider (not the first time this has happened). They cover little of the very few claims I have made to them.

The success rate of repair and scheduling through their website has been pleasing. On several occasions I got call backs in a couple hours and usually the appointment was set to a couple to four days later. Contractors come clean and don't make messes a d of course what's important: they do the job right.
