I went with Select Home Warranty because I saw they stood up well with reviews, and I'm not sure how! I liked that they offered all the right coverage of appliance plus roof leak protection, what could go wrong? Well I'll tell you, I'm sure glad I didn't sign up with their 5year plan at a discounted price. I took the one year contract to see how it goes... No issues until my refrigerator goes out. I thought, "Well, I'm glad I have a home warranty, after all that's why you buy em right?". I report the issue immediately, they tell me they will get ahold of the soonest available technician. I bought my house one year ago. I had a home warranty on my house from another company that the seller's chose. So now, the search was on after the year was up. I chose Select for the price and services they offer. They also have an excellent rating!! Let's do this!!
I have one word to describe SHW - SCAM, it should be what the S in SHW stands for, although it could be a handful of other things too. Other descriptors that come to mind: hoax, unethical, incompetent, inept, unhelpful, uncovered, deceitful. They are good at a few things memorizing a script and knowing every single loophole to avoid covering you at any cost. Watch out! They're very convincing to earn your business (as most of the reviews on them suggest) and then they treat you like crap! I wish I could give them zero stars here! I was lured into a 3-yr contract with SHW for 3 of my properties by an enthusiastic sales guy but as soon as the 1st claim was in, the problems started. Can you believe they don't have an electrician available in San Antonio, in their network?? Its probably because they cheated their vendors too and have built a bad rep. To replace a tenant's mircowave that their contractros could not fix, they offered a measly $50! Refused every claim. Last straw was an AC unit that outlived its lifespan by 5 years and died due to normal wear and tear - as diagnosed by two engineers at personal cost. A replacement should be provided in line with the contract but the claim was refused with no basis.
There is no one to call and speak about it. All decisions are made in the 'Back Office' and you're left to deal with an offshore team that deflects calls and has no direct contact with the 'Back Office'.
Avoid at all costs. They will offer you the policy at a great rate but they can do so but their payout is zero! Good luck
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY WAS THE WORST I EVER HAD SINCE I HAD WARRANTY I HAD AMERICAN HOME-SHIELD THAT COMPANY HELP ME WITH ALL MY NEEDS WITH NO PROBLEMS LIKE THEY SAY YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET THIS COMPANY IS A LOT CHEAPER BUT WHEN IT COMES FOR CLAIMS THE ARE CHEAP TOO THEY WANT TO GIVE YOU PENIES FOR YOU APPLIANCES REPLACEMENT WITH OUT EVEN SENDING A TECH TO FIX YOUR STAFF PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY THIS COMPANY IS BAD
This company is horrible to deal with. After purchasing Platinum coverage, my breaker went out. I live in Arizona. The temperatures are 111 during the day. Select took 4 days to give me an answer on the repair. Had no Air Conditioning and repeated told them I had small children and animals. They denied it because my breaker box was on the OUTSIDE of my home not in my living space. Horrible company!
I've been a Select Home Warranty client for almost for years and wanted to do a "sanity check" before renewing.
I looked at several others, both "big boy competition to Select" before making my choice. It was a no brainer. I not only stayed with Select but, with (sales agent) Zachary's help. contracted for a multi-year policy and discount. GREAT!
Totally fraudulent and misleading representations on coverage and hides under the fine print to deny or pay you pennies on a dollar to replace damaged appliances. Total rip. Canceled after 5 days based on the misrepresentations and still charged a $75 cancellation fee. TOTAL RIPOFF!!
Do not buy this warranty. They will not pay anything. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS!!! Guarantee you will be sorry
