HMS Nationa provides exclusively hybrid policies, without a term-level cap, or any sort of cap on appliances. While systems are capped at $1,500, anything labeled as ‘unlimited’ in the home warranty is exceedingly rare. Our range broke on June 22nd, 2018. We placed the initial phone call to file a claim with HMS Home Warranty that evening. On June 26th, Chesapeake Services came out to inspect the stove and find out what was wrong. The technician said that the stove was beyond repair at the time of the home visit. However, HMS was insistent on finding the parts to make the repair. They order 3-4 parts for the range which came in and were installed on July 12th. Once installed, they immediately broke. The technician at that time blamed the electrical outlet and said it was providing too much power. JML Electric came out with a meter to read the electrical outlet on July 25th and stated in the report that... Read More

Whatever you do, DO NOT get a home warranty through HMS. Their contract is garbage, their customer service is worthless, and you will never get answers. They will send out a tech and charge you a deductible and then tell you that an item which is not clearly excluded under THEIR CONTRACT is not covered. Then, you will spend HOURS and HOURS trying to speak to and/or reason with their customer service department, only to be HUNG UP ON or shuffled around to employees who don't know anything about your claim or the status. After asking for an opinion relative to this particular issue and being promised a response within 3 weeks, I still have no response more than 4 months later. After all... Read More

I have never written a bad review about any other company thus far, but my experience with HMS has compelled me to create an account at Consumers Affairs and wrote a review to share my experience on August 1, 2018. As of today, August 2, 2018, our issue still has not been addressed and it has compelled me to post a review here as it's getting increasingly frustrating and ridiculous. An issue with the plumbing system in our house caused us not to have any water since July 29th. We called on the morning July 30th for help, and we were told this is an emergency and it will be forwarded to Dispatch Department for immediate service; we never received any call or email or any help that day.... We have had HMS Home warranty for 4 ears. It was purchased through our agent when we bought the house and I convinced my husband each year to renew. We ave only had 2 claims prior to this one and didn't have any problems until now. Those claims were small and this one was bigger. Our air conditioner needs to be replaced and they are denying the claim stating the age of the unit and that it was installed improperly even though it was that way when we bought the place and 2 years ago when they sent out someone to fix it then. I WILL NOT be renewing my warranty and people SHOULD NOT purchase from them they are not a good company.

This came as from the sellers realtor which we had no idea how poor this company was until we had to call. Our hot water heater is the forth claim now which is by far the worse. We placed the claim on a Monday the HVAC soonest was Thursday 3-5pm who for $100 told us we need a new water heater. The next week no phone calls on the next step spent multiple phone calls to be told you have been on a list since last week for a supervisor to call you in the order it was requested so, keep waiting. The HVAC company was able to tell us HMS would order one to be sent to them to install however, draining the old was is an out of pocket charge, there is an automatic flat fee modification charge... We have been without hot water for THREE WEEKS tomorrow because your “research” team is trying to decide if you should keep waiting for the part for my water heater or replace it!! Yep, that’s right! THREE WEEKS! 8 years I pay you almost $600 for top of the line coverage. Over 20 phone calls, hours of BS talk time. I have a grandson who is autistic and I have multiple Sclerosis so you can imagine what that is like having to shower in cold water for THREE WEEKS! My husband found your freaking part, had it overnighted, we got it today and it will be installed on Monday. I am demanding my money back that I just paid you at the end of April for the year. I deserve that much for the emotional... Read More

DO NOT PURCHASE AN HMS HOME WARRANTY! I called about an issue with the HVAC - it was leaking into the floor and damaging the floor - there was mold starting to grow in the damaged wood and the water leaking into the crawl space underneath the air condiitioning system - more mold in the crawl space. They sent someone, that person said I would need extensive work to fix the problem. HMS promptly ended his service contract. They lined up another person to come to look at the air conditioner - that company never showed up. Turns our they didn't even service my area. So they found another company (in another state) who swore up and down that they would come. They didn't show up. I called HMS... Read More

On 09May2018, I called HMS to report an A/C unit was not working. The response was quick and I had a service provider out to look at it within 2 days. A second visit (6 days later) was required to further diagnose the problem. I then waited to hear back from HMS on the part approval and to schedule repair. I finally called on 22 May to get status and was told that I would be covering nearly $500 of the items out of pocket and that two TRANE valves and two caps were to be ordered and delivered to the service provider. After calling again on 23May, I was told the parts were "on order". After receiving no notice for some time, I made some additional phone calls and queries and I found... Read More

I acquired a HMS Home Warranty as part of a home purchase. I will NEVER use HMS Home Warranty again. I have done two claims thus far. One has gone completely uncovered for reasons they can't explain. The other I have been waiting almost 90 days and counting to get reimbursed on. Continue reading if you would like to get walked through the process that HMS Home Warranty provides. First, submit a claim for a water heater. One week later, they call only to alert me in a voicemail that they can not find plumbers in the area. After one missed call, they leave a voicemail saying to find my own and since I didn't answer they will merely send me a $250 check to cover the water heater. I'm not... Read More
