I have had HMS for two years. I had filed a claim for A/C repair 4 times on my upstairs unit. This unit is 15 years old and the compressor has been completely exposed to the elements during that time. Two days ago the compressor broke down and I filed another claim. The technician reported that it could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. HMS denied my claim citing the fins on the unit were bent blocking air into the system which ultimately burned out the motor. They said this damage was not normal wear and tear. Again the unit is 15 years old and exposed. They did not fulfill their obligation per the contract since they denied my claim when the system needed to be... Read More

Fridge broke and after 2 weeks with one company (1/5 yelp rating) and not finishing the job, we got a second company with a timeline of about a week. Current total time without fridge: 3 weeks, expected time without fridge: 1 week, expected remaining time: 1 more week, 4 total.

Our A/C unit died after 10 months of our home purchase (only 3-4 months of usage) HMS sent out a technician that claimed the unit was tampered with (we didn't touch it) and therefore, denied the claim. Also, we found that when the technician left, we didn't have a thermostat so the heat is also inoperable. I've always been leery of extended warranties offered by third parties and this is exactly why. Now we are stuck with a deductible for the service call AND have to replace the entire unit. We're trying to escalate the situation (again, we did not tamper with the unit) and are now getting the run around. I wish I could give less than 1-star. Completely worthless!

HMS is the Worst. We have been without AC for 3 weeks and still no sign of when it will be taken care of. The first company diagnosed the problem sent in the request and HMS ordered the parts. Then that contractor quit working with HMS. They sent the parts back. Then HMS sent out another contractor. Same diagnosis. HMS ordered the parts again. The new contractor said they are still waiting on parts. This coming is far from legit. Beware.

On the whole, my experience with HMS has been deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend purchase or renewal of a policy. I closed on a home in May 2019, and the sellers extended a home warranty with HMS. In June, our AC compressor stopped functioning. We paid our $100 deductible to the approved HVAC technician, who reported his findings back to HMS. I was then informed that they were not contractually obligated to cover the cost to repair or replace the unit because of "improper installation." After having the unit inspected by an independent technician, who determined the cause of failure was loose wiring, the AC was up and running and has been functioning fine since. I called HMS... HMS is a scam and they are in it with the shady companies they are contracting. If I could give a zero rating I would. Three stars are far too good. Check out their website, their rating there is 1.9 and this is too high. We are one of the many unhappy customers who received HMS for free for a year when we bought our house and felt secure and protected thinking we were covered. A few months after moving in the dishwasher panel stopped working. I called HMS and received the info of a company to fix it. To my surprise I had to contact them myself and schedule an appointment. It took a week for somebody to come by and I had to take a full day off. The first thing after getting into the house... Read More

No problem with the replacement of the water heater. When it came to replacing the air conditioner it’s been a battle for the last 3 months. None of the places around here will work with them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

We started our claim for non-functional AC on Monday exactly a week ago with temperature ranging in high 90's to over 100 degrees. Our parts were supposed to be ordered and here on Friday with the weekend installation. We found out on Friday that they ordered wrong parts! Now, we did not know this until our installer brought us up to speed. When we called HMS, they gave us the run around that the installer was wrong and parts have been ordred and arrived on time. Took 3 phone calls for them to realize what they did. Now when we call they say they can "send an email out" to the authorization department to expedite new orders for us and the parts should be here in 3-5 days. No... Read More

I work in customer service and I understand their procedures. That being said. My fridge went out on June 25th and scheduled me for July 3rd originally, which got push to the 8th, and then the 12th. The tech came vacuumed and cleared the exhaust. He said to wait 12-24 hours to see if it's working. Here we are 24 hours later and fridge is as warm as it had been for the last 21 days. I have been offered no solutions, I'm eating 2 fast food meals a day and that alone is now up to $200+. Now the next available appointment is the 19th. I'm horrified and angry enough to actually write a review for a change. If you're looking for a home warranty. Save yourself money, headaches, and 3 weeks of... Read More

I have had nothing but issues since day 1! The companies that they work with are scam artist and issues are never resolved. I have had better luck contacting companies on my own to resolve problems I've had with my home. I've had HMS for a year (I did not cancel due to the previous owners that I bought my condo from paying for my home warranty) and none of the companies that they have sent out were able to fix two of my toilets (I ended up calling another company myself that was able to fix it), and misdiagnosed why I would only get hot water from my shower heads (they replaced the water heater but the cold water ended up being due to old faulty shower knobs). On top of this, they sent out... Read More
