Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

My first call to Choice was today. Call answered promptly and my service call placed being given all information about the service communication. About an hour later, my problem resolved itself! I called Choice again and had no problems cancelling the work order.

Choice Home Warranty has an easy to file claim system on line. We receive response within 24 hours and are very pleased with the quality of repair technicians that they use. I would highly recommend them.

Had garage door problems, put in an online work order was contacted by a repair man immediately, was at my house and fixed the door opener in less than 2 hours, I highly recommend Home Choice, they are prompt and through!!

We recently purchased our home and were a bit skeptical about a home owner policy. The lady we purchased from highly recommended it so we transferred the policy. Within a month, we had a problem with an appliance. I contacted Choice Home Warranty (your website was very easy to use) and the next day, a repair person came and fixed the problem. All for $45. Great service and well worth the price

After some major miscommunication with the first couple of reps I was transferred to a rep that did know what he was talking about and I ended up buying a 3 yr program. Ya me!! However, I am a current customer and for the last 2 months I have received a ton of emails for offers, please sign up and whatever. When I called in weeks ago because I was at the end of my term the rep said I was renewing and did not have to do a thing (NOT TRUE). Today the rep that knew what he was talking about said that's not true. So frustrated by that time but all is good. Once again I made the right CHOICE with CHOICE!!!! The lights on my garage opener wouldn't come on and at night, it really gets dark when trying to get to that light switch! I called when I knew I'd be home and they contacted me with an appointment time range which worked for me! The guy came from Florida Garage Doors Net Inc and checked out the problem. He was respectful and knowledgable and resolved the problem. Thanks again for being there for me! I truly appreciate your service!

My frigerator ice maker went down the other day and was making a noise. Shame on me for not reading my policy as it states ice makers are not covered not sure if this was a good decision there's nothing embarrassing knowing that a technician comes to the house says it's not covered and then demands cash only after service has been rendered

Do they cover built in microwaves, yes. Is mine broken, yes. Did i make a claim? yes, for my broken microwave. Will they cover it? no why? because it probably is the handle causing the problem....and guess what? they don't cover hinges, handles and door latches. Useless.
