Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I found out after the plumber had repaired my sink that there was some limit on my policy and only a small portion of the bill was covered. This was the first I’d heard of any limits on repairs and there was nothing in the paperwork Choice had sent me to indicate I was coming up on a limit. So I’m on the hook for an expensive repair I thought I was covered for. Will not be renewing.

Thanks for the much-needed help. The refrigerator was not freezing food or cooling so I made a claim online with Choice Home Warranty they gave me a claim number and sent someone out the same day, the CHW technician found the problem but did not have the part so I waited 4 days for their return but the problem was fixed and up and running great, I did not have the money for a regular service call and work because the technicians services are so costly nowadays, I was so glad to have Choice Home Warranty all I had to pay was the service fee of 45.00 and they took care of the rest. The best monthly investment I ever made. I am more than satisfied so far with their coverage and help. Thank... Read More

Customer service was very rude and even hung up on me. I have been a customer for 20years. The manager was very diligent but the rest of the staff needs training.

I had two services in two days. The technician who came to fix the heating problem that he would return on Monday because he had to get approval and order the par. Apart from the$60 service fee he said he would charge $30 to clean the furnace, claiming that this was not covered. I would not give him a good rating because he quoted a n exorbitant price for the replacement board: his price around $400. average price $130. . The technician who came to fix the garage door was very helpful and efficient. He walked me through the steps, explained the cause, fixed the garage door, greased the moving parts, made sure the door was functioning normally and even told me where to get a remote. I...
