Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

This was my first time using my warranty and it wasn't easy to get a technician to come out to my home. It took well over a month to finally get one. The technician who finally agreed to come was very knowledgeable and willing to do the repair. I am hoping the next time i need to use my warranty, it will go a lot smoother.

I had researched home warranties several months ago. Then Choice Home Warranty was rated as the top, but I hadn't gotten around to calling them. I saw them again in a list and decided to fill out some information so I could call them and get a warranty. I don't like the one I was using, I couldn't find a way to get in touch with them when I had a problem. Before I hit the submit button they were on the phone and the original price was great and the coverage was complete. When Michael found out I was over 50 my price dropped considerably. after months of arguing with the disheartening when does that came to my house I finally was able to have a legitimate licensed plumber who cared about the well-being of my family to come and fix the issues he was pleasant professional very courteous extremely caring and communicated continuously with updates to the status of my situation.

Pricing is excellent, but the rep was like a car salesman. I'm ok with offering alternatives, but he became pushy to the point of me calling the deal off and calling their competitors.

Choice's policies usually end up resulting in most claims being denied, or only partially covered. For instance, yesterday I had to have my garage door opener replaced and the technician said that Choice would only allow one remote with the replacement. I had to pay extra to get the second one. The technician was awesome, but Choice's policy left me holding the bag. Last year I ended up replacing 2 furnaces and an air conditioner because Choice refused. They indicated that I had not cared for them well. The house is 22 years old and I have the units serviced at the appropriate times in the season.
