Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The technician, Arturo, was excellent in utilizing his Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to quickly determine the defected portion of the equipment and repair it upon obtaining the parts. Arturo was very personable and shared his experience, describing causes, and explaining what he was doing instead of just walking in, fixing it, and walking out. I have two garage doors; both of the openers are the same age and get used with equal frequency. If I experience similar issues with my other opener, I will be sure to request Arturo. He has his job down pat. Great Technician, Great Person.

Absolutely awful home warranty company. I only went with them because I had no choice - the warranty was provided as part of a new home purchase. My ageing hot water heater went out around Christmas time. Thankfully it didn't fully fail, but it did spring a leak and pressure/temperature was severely compromised. I opened a claim on January 4th, right after the holiday. A technician came soon after and the claim was quickly approved (with $480 worth of non-covered charges). I would NOT recommend Choice Home Warranty at all. I did not renew my contract with them because they refused to pay for a furnace repair that I had to get because I had no working furnace in Feb in MI and my house was very cold. They wanted me to wait at least 24 hours until they approved it before it was authorized. They couldn't find anyone to repair it which made it worse so I found someone and they came out within an hour to fix it.

Although they were not able to repair the leak the technician went out of his way to clamp the pipe so that we could get our water back on. I'm beyond grateful for him going out of his way.
