Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Do not get involved with these people. They will dig deep to find any reason to deny your claim. When my claim was denied I ask for a written detailed expiation why the claim was denied. I have not received a response. I found the claims personnel, including the claims manager, to very rude and nasty. They read from a prepared script and could care less about you or your problem. Don't waste your money !

I was pleased with the response time and the company who came to repair my washing machine. Unfortunately, it could not be repaired and Choice Home Warranty offered a fair amount to replace it. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

Purchased coverage 1/11/15 Second claim filled. First claim was for provider for plumbing issue . Provider never responded. Paid out of pocket for non contract plumber. Filled second claim 3/22/ 16 for issue with oven. Contractor responded within one hour of receiving claim and fixed it same day within 2 hours. Very satisfied.

First time I tried this company but will not be renewing. I will go with OneGuard next time. All the other home warranty companies have a spring and fall check up on your heating and cooling systems. Called them for this and was told they do no do that. Had a roof leak last year and called them as I had added roof coverage for an extra fee. The roofing contractor would not fix the leak and wanted to charge me for a complete new roof. You can do better with a different warranty company.

This is the hardest company to deal with. My husband keeps records and we have regular spring and summer maintenance scheduled for our AC and other appliances. Choice requests your records and tries not to pay your claims. In fact, their AC repair guys are awful. You get the knowledgeable guy the first time out, then when your AC stops working, they send a new guy who overfills your AC unit with freeon which eventually causes problems with your unit. If Choice doesn't like what is on your maintenance records, they refuse your claim and send you to arbitration. The unit above my master bath was starting to leak and by the time they got the parts in and came back out, I had spent a night in... Read More

I enjoy choice the contractors are great, the claim service is prompt. There coverage covers a lot of things. Great value for the price.

I just got a policy with this company. The rep that I spoke with it said how wonderful the company and policy was. When I received the paperwork for the policy it listed more things they wouldn't cover than things they would. They wouldn't even cover a basic leak detection on the A/C. When I called customer service they were unconcerned with my issues. I advised the CSR that I would be cancelling the warranty and she was all to eager to transfer me to the department that handles it. I could even hear CSR in the background speaking rudely and in harsh tones.

I initially filed a claim with Home Choice (HC) Warranty on 3/3/16 as my water heater was not working. Living in Chicago, one can imagine the difficulty of taking cold showers. On 3/4/16, I was scheduled to have a plumber to service the water heater. I was informed by the plumber that they recommended that the water heater be replaced as the chance there is a 60/40 chance that replacing the parts would rectify the issue. On 3/8/16, it was determined by Home Choice that they would like to get a 2nd opinion regarding this matter. On 3/11/16, the second plumber came to service the water heater. They also recommended that the water heater should be replaced. Even still, Home Choice requested... Read More

We have Choice and will not renew. There are so many exclusions that they will find a way not to make a repair. They talked us into 3 years and said we could get a refund at any time if not satisfied. After 1 year we called them for an air conditioner repair and they refused to cover the repair so we requested a refund. Their reply was that we would only have 1 year refunded. Very poor customer service and very misleading. A total waste of money!
