I was a Hippo Insurance Customer for 37 days. Purchase Home 17OCT2019. Had home Inspected by a certified inspector 07OCT2019. No significant problems. Purchased Hippo Insurance 22OCT2019. 26NOV2017 Hippo notifies me their inspector found a roofing problem and threatens to cancel my insurance unless I fix it. 26NOV2019 I physically inspect the roof with my neighbor. No problems found! Messaged back and forth with unidentified, unknown individuals or entities via Hippo support to resolve the problem. Arrogant, snarky, cocky and ignorant! Canceled policy 27NOV2019. Fortunately, I paid cash for the house and can self insure. Previously, when I was poor and broke with a mortgage... Read More

I made my first claim under the enhanced coverage for equipment breakdown. They are trying to deny the claim because my HVAC unit is 16 years old. Not sure what good that rider is ?

So far, so good. Have purchased better home coverage for almost $500 less than my current Mercury policy. All "paperwork" is via email; they don't mail policy info via snail mail. Service reps on the 800-number have been very helpful.

Don't buy into the Hippo policies. I just purchased my second house on 1/16/20 and received a notice a few minutes ago that my policy is being cancelled effective 3/31 because my roof caps are slightly worn and a couple branches were barely touching the roof. What a ridiculous company! Read all of the negative reviews before you decide to move forward. I, personally, would avoid them at all costs.

I got better coverage for a huge savings compared to my current policies.. over $400 savings for my house and rental condo. The quote was super quick and the rep I spoke with was incredible. Without my saying a word, even he talked about different Hippo is regarding customer service and it truly shows. I am very very happy.

Their "customer service" is horrendous. They will make up things or withhold information to get a sale, but the reality is that their website is nothing more than a bunch of hype. They say they will pay for mechanical failure of equipment, but how they define it and whether or not it will actually be covered depends on the mood swings of the person who answers the phone.
