Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

Claims Processing - 2.5 / 5

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

Many of the above frustrations are Absolutely True - Don't get scammed. After paying out 375$ on 5 separate visits by a plumber and appliance specialist, we are completely frustrated. The plumber says the dishwasher is not working, and the appliance guys says unless plumbing fixes the problem they will never be able to touch it. Who in the government oversees these? These guys should not operate in the United States.

They never really cover anything and you are stuck losing 75 dollars as well as the cost of the repair. This appears to be some sort of scam in which the contractor goes out to the customer site and gets the 75.00 dollar fee for going then getting a diagnosis of "not covered", the contractor then offers to fix the problem knocking off the 75 dollar fee in the final bill.

I am a realtor and home warranties are suspect at best, but this company is absolutely horrible from a follow up and resolution stand point. I will NEVER accept and HSA warranty or offer one on a property I have listed. I've been trying for 4 months to resolve an issue that was approved by HSA. I am on the phone weekly for an hour with no resolution. WOW, just awful service.

Horrible! You speak to a call center of people with limited English skills and you can not get you through to a supervisor or to the authorization department. We have been through four contractors in several months that HSA refuses to approve because they don't like that the contractors have told them how much it will cost. They want to go cheap on everything and delay, delay, delay! If I could give a minus on this rating, I would!

Absolutely fuming at my recent correspondence with your company! No help whatsoever! Cost me a lot of money and time for absolutely no help at all, apparently your complaints department are too busy helping other customers, wow, and you don’t have a claims dept according to your representative on the phone today. My thoughts are that no one can write either as the letter of explanation I was asked to furnish has not elicited a reply.

We had a gas leak discovered that required gas to the whole house be shut off until fixed, and this happened just before a dangerous and lengthy cold spell, with temperatures around zero degrees Farenheit. We experienced very long wait times just to file a claim, and when it became clear that an HSA contractor would not be able to service the problem in time they authorized us to use a contractor of our choice. Their contract stipulates that they must be able to speak with the contractor prior to work being performed. We called the following day, but again experienced very long wait times and could not get through. Good luck finding any contractors that are willing to wait at your house... Read More

not worth the monthly payment at cost it would be cheaper to replace items at full price . 2 visits at 75 deductible for the same problem with a stove new stove would have been cheaper than the warranty. attempted to use it for furnace problem humidifier issue which they say they cover in the contract.. they would not cover it. waste of money no value. Also customer service is atrocious made calls to them in the AM hours avg wait time was over an hour. the first call . The rep hung up on me , causing me to dial back in for another hour long hold

We've had a home warranty from HSA since we bought our home nearly 6 years ago. The price per month as well as the trade call fee have risen STEADILY since we began, and in fact the trade call fee just DOUBLED this year from $50 to $100. However, the service has gone WAY downhill since we began our journey with them, culminating in our latest repair requests that will most likely be our LAST. First, there was the garage door spring that went, and it was obvious what had happened and that it was 100% covered, we initiated a call. The repairman they sent came out, verified it had broken, measured for a new one, and said it would take a week to come in. We suffered through a whole week... Read More

Their customer service is the absolute worst. I have been hung up on by multiple service agents and their wait times to reach a person on the phone are unacceptable. Also very limited options online. To lodge a complaint I have to mail it to the main office. Completely disappointed and frankly a little upset at the way I am being treated. Currently on hold for more than 20 minutes to cancel....

Have been without a toilet in our new home for 5 days. Made an appointment through HSA for a plumbing company who cancelled on the day they were supposed to come out. After looking at plumbing company on YELP and seeing horrible reviews and a rating of 1 decided to call HSA to ask if we get someone to fix it instead do we get out money back . They said NO!!! Still without a toilet!!!! The plumbing company is supposed to be out tomorrow....We'll see......
