Overall Rating: 1.1 / 5 (Poor)

HSA Home Warranty policies cover the warranty industry's standard list of appliances and home systems. Policies are available on an annual basis. Once you pay your premium, your policy is in full effect, with no waiting period or home inspection required. Unfortunately, the company doesn't provide a lot of specifics on the most important aspects of a home warranty policy on its website. They do not describe the variety of plans they offer, the cost of those plans, the benefit limits of their policies, or the deductibles associated with making a claim. HSA may have innovative policies, low deductibles and plan prices, great service partners, or a host of other benefits. You have to request a quote to find out.

Speaking of requesting a quote, we also have some concerns about their privacy policy. Once you submit your information to HSA —which you must do to get a quote—the company reserves the right to share your data with marketing affiliates, real estate companies, and other entities with which you might prefer not to share your information.

Contract & Price - 3 / 5

HSA's starting price of $589 for a 12-month contract, makes them the most expensive base-level option on the market. While an exact quote can be generated via an online calculator, we strongly recommend that potential policyholders thoroughly read all the fine print. Once a policy has been activated it is irreversible, since HSA does not offer any sort of cancellation or money-back policies.

Cancellation Policy

The warranty is non-cancelable by either party except for the following: A. The contract fees are not paid. B. Fraud or misrepresentation of facts material to the issuance of this contract. C. If the contract provides coverage for the seller during the listing period and the listing is withdrawn or expires. Should the contract be cancelable under the laws of the state where the contract holder resides, an allowable administrative fee will be charged upon cancellation. HSA may, at its option, decline to issue any renewal or cancel any contract, if the contract fees are not paid within 10 days of the due date.

With their claim of “the nation’s largest network of professional contractors”, HSA aims to provide quick, efficient service. Their service fees range between $75-$100, with no waiting period. Their 30-day recall period, as well as not requiring maintenance records, reflect the company’s wish to make their services easily accessible. Under certain circumstances, HSA’s 24/7 claims department may approve the use of a contractor that operates outside of their network.

Don't waste your money on this service. Customer service at HSA doesn't care that YOU are their customer. They are more interested in backing up the contractor than they are interested in you. Terrible wait times on the phone to talk to people in a foreign company who speak well, but don't understand what you are saying. Contractors are eh - I've needed 2 repairs in the 3 years I have had this service. One contractor never called or called me back, one made an immediate repair, and my most recent has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. For the $1800+ I have spent on this "service" I could have gotten the same new garbage disposal I had replaced put in and bought a new... Read More

I bought my first home and the previous home owners purchased this warranty for me- never again will I use this company. I have an oil furnace that has gone out and is so compacted with soot it won't heat my house. It has been out for 3 months now, its the dead of winter and it is negative degrees outside. I have called at least 10 times and have had three companies tell me it needs replaced and this "warranty company" will not do anything to help me. I have already contacted an attorney because they are not living up to their contract. My advice to anyone looking into this company- DON'T DO IT!

HSA sent out a repairman for a hotwater heater attached to a radiant flooring system. A radiant specialist and plumber said the hot water heater needed replaced. Instead of replacing the hot water heater the HSA sent an electrical repairman who determined the elements could be replaced. The repairman sent a subcontractor who knew nothing about the system. He didn't even know how to refill the closed hot water heat system. Now I have a "working" hot water system with no water, I've missed work on 3 seperate days and still do not have an operating radiant floor system. HSA Home Warranty isn't interested in providing quality repairs. In addition, any call to the service is a 30 minute... Read More

The first time I called HSA to schedule one of their affiliated techs to come through and finish fixing my dishwasher, it took 48 minutes to get someone to answer the phone. A person answered and got my information, they said that someone from Sears would call me within 24 hours. No one called me back within that time- Surprise surprise. Monday I called HSA again and was on hold for another 30 minutes. A person answered seeing that I called and that someone was supposed to call me. She called the Sears people and I could only get an appt 3 weeks out. Additionally I was scheduled to be out the country on the nearest availabel date. Then the HSA rep just didnt want to deal with me anymore... Read More

Charge you $75 for each visit, only to tell you that nothing is covered. The online form they have you fill out is a waste of time as well. It could prompt you to state the problem and then say its not covered so you dont spend the money, but thats not how it works. I have wasted about $300 in service fees that nothing was covered. It would have been cheaper for me to call a repair person directly. Dont waste your time with this company, and if you have this warranty, ask your seller for a better one.

Do not use, Fortunately we did not pay for this our realtor did. They have every excuse under the sun to deny coverage. Also had issues with the original company that came out lying and not even filing the claim. It is just a waste of $75.00 dollars for every service call.

This is the WORST home warranty - EVER. I can't take the time I want to complain here. Worse customer service the Sprint and Comcast combined. I am trying to cancel our coverage, I can NEVER EVER get a hold of anyone anytime I call and their payment gateway is antiquated. They take forever to get back to you and then have someone scheduled to fix any repairs.Nowhere on our account is there anything to cancel. If we didnt already have them, I would have thought they were a SCAM. And part of me feels like they may turn out to be just that. Do NOT use them and the high star reviews and ratings are either fake, faulty or political because they are absolutely NOT close to a high star rating.... Read More

Fridge went out 1/5/19 - called and got a estimate initial visit of 1/10/19. Unacceptable, called service tech directly and got someone out 1/7.19. Need new compressor. Tech told HSA 1 week to fix, after they hung up told me part was b/o and quoted install date for repair 1/25/19. For those weak at math that is 20 days with out a fridge/freezer! Can you live without a fridge or freezer for 20 days? Is this acceptable to you? Multiple attempts to call have yield zero results and multiple hour plus hold times with zero resolution. Facebook messenger returned some movement, where they said tech quoted them 1/17/19 repair date (still 10 days from 1st visit and 12 with out the appliance)... Read More

I'm sorry I can't leave zero stars. Here's my experience with HSA: I realized I had an electrical problem, so I decided to put in a claim. I went to their website, where I couldn't submit a claim because their site said my policy didn't exist. Ok, I'll just call. After over 45 MINUTES, I finally got an operator. I let her know about my problem. "I'm sorry sir, I can't help you with that problem, but I'll make a note of it." Anyway, after a few days it finally gets fixed, and I'm able to file a claim online. I'm contacted by an electric company who is only in my area 3 days a week, and who gives me a 5 HOUR window time (who do they think they are, a cable company??) in which... Read More

I have nothing good to say about HSA. Their contract is vague at best, so that when they send someone out they can easily deny service. It took hours to get ahold of someone on the phone and I still have not received a call back from their "manager". I had a very old toilet with a snapped off ball-cock that my husband tried to replace on his own with a new system. Unfortunately he isn't handy and could not fix it on our own, which is when we called HSA. I had to call the contractor after 2 days without them calling me to schedule, and it wasn't until a week later that someone was scheduled to come out. He walked into the house, looked at the toilet for about 10 seconds and left saying he... Read More
