Overall Rating: 2 / 5 (Poor)

Fidelity National's prices are inline with industry standards, though their service fees are slightly higher, and its guaranteed response time is a bit longer than that of other companies.

We feel the need to mention that Fidelity National has been the target of a state insurance regulatory action and a class action suit, requiring that customers give up their right to a jury trial in any legal dispute.

Coverage Options - 3 / 5

Fidelity National covers many of the usual systems and appliances, as well as a few specialty items.

However, coverage for refrigerators, washers/dryers, air conditioning units, pool and spa equipment and septic tank leaks and roof leaks are not part of the standard coverage, but must be purchased separately when the contract is signed.

Unlike some other home warranty companies, the company does not cover system or appliance failures due to lack of maintenance.

Reputation - 4.5 / 5

Fidelity National is accredited by the BBB and has an A+ rating. It has four positive reviews and 112 negative ones and 549 customer complaints.

However, it is not unusual in this industry for companies to have numerous negative customer reviews and complaints.

The company has no presence on Trust Pilot. In 2012, the company settled a claim against it by the Insurance Commissioner of California which alleged that the company had unlawfully paid rebates and offered inducements to real estate brokers.

The company agreed to cease and desist from the allegedly unlawful practices and paid a settlement of $1.25 million and attorneys fees of $175,000, but admitted no wrongdoing.

In 2008, a class action suit was brought in California against Fidelity National which alleged false advertising and insurance bad faith. The case resulted in four separate appeals and was eventually refiled.

The worst home warranty that could be out there. My AC/heater unit has been broken for 3 months and they are not being able to find a company to fix it. They always have some kind of excuse. I am practically on the phone - talking to them - every single day. They also have a terrible customer service (once they hung up on me) and they are not really aligned. I had to explain my claim every single time that I called. two times my call was directed to the "manager" and they promised me that I will get a check for the repair or they will take care of my problem (as I was calling to cancel my policy) but they gave me a fake names and I never could follow up with them. Long story short, I had a... Read More

This is the worst home warranty and worst customer service I have ever experienced. The people on the phone are of little knowledge and give you the wrong information about coverage. All they want is your money. Further, they have very few companies that can handle the problem in your area, I live in Tucson. In addition, the exclusions of coverage well out weigh what is and should be covered. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WARRANTY!!!!!!!!!

I'm very disappointed with my first dealing with Fidelity. I purchased my condo 2 months ago and just had my first experience with them. (Like other reviewers my agent picked this policy) Our toilet clogged this morning, and I Fidelity called stating so. They sent a plumber out quickly as the toilet overflowed water. They also charge a $75.00 fee for each visit. Okay, I new that. After he snaked, the plumber said 6 feet wasn't enough and he'd need to remove the toilet to reach deeper. He also mentioned he didn't think toilet removal was covered. I said that can't be so, you have to remove the toilet to finish the covered service, so how can that not be covered. He called Fidelity and he... Read More

So far I am not impressed. They have not followed through on providing service and give me conflicting information about whether I should call the vendor directly or not. I have a plumbing issue that makes it impossible to use my kitchen sink, and after 4 hours I have had zero action from Fidelity National Home Warranty. When I log into their website portal, I get a blank screen.

I just purchased a home in Los Angeles and within one week of taking occupancy, both shower handles stopped working. Fidelity sent out a rep who determined the hardware needed to be replaced. TEN phone calls later, I have received ten different quotes for what I need to pay, without any consistency or clear explanation. This is by far the worst Home Warranty company I have ever worked with. I’ve owned other homes and never had this experience with other home warranty companies. DO NOT AGREE TO BE COVERED BY FIDELITY HOME WARRANTY. They are terrible in every way possible.

The company they sent out was one star because they come out and do no work and play dumb.

am extremely disappointed with fidelity. my a/c went out during 100 degree weather, I am a senior citizen with pets, and they would not repair my unit for almost two weeks. If they would let me use a local provider of my chosing it would have been repaired in 2 days. Plus, my own personal portion of the repairs is 1500. What a horrible company!

Like your typical scam. Told that we could select "out of network" technician (we wanted a factory certified parts replacement), jumped through the hoops to do this, followed the instructions, parts are no longer made, so a replacement recommendation from this technician was in his report. FN decided to deny the claim because they said the inspection (which said everything is working and serviceable except the following defect list) wasn't explicitly listed as inspected. We started complaining and documenting their failures (and requesting a copy of my file and all telephone calls, as well as no denial letter received, and couldn't even tell me when it was denied or when a letter was... So disappointed with Fidelity National Home Warranty company. It has been almost 1 month since I first contacted this company to file a claim for my Meile dishwasher. I was contacted by a contractual vendor and advised that no one could come out for 3 days. FNHW said they would be here within 24 hours. The repair was evaluated and we were advised a part was needed and it should be here in a couple of days, but to no avail. After contacting the vendor several times in the past 3 weeks I was always told she would check into it and get back to me. Do you know how frustrating it is to constantly be promised someone will get back to you with an answer and not EVER get that call. Today I... Read More
