Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I’ve called in several times to discuss a home warranty policy. I spoke with Alberto and he sold me a “no cap policy”. He explained it to pay out for appliances, Furnace, A/C unit, etc. with no limit. After reading the policy he sent me it lists caps on paying out for claims. He also processed a payment without telling me he was processing it. In the past the companies draft on the date the policy starts. When I call customer service I am transferred and never get to anyone to help.

I am glad that I was in a position to enroll in the program at this time. A person never wants to be in a situation where things happen and you can't resolve the problem for lack of funds. I feel safe, knowing should an appliance break, I can call to have it fixed or should it need to be replaced, that I won't have to come out of pocket to replace it.

Contractors being sent to my home are not always the best fit. Last person was very uneducated and is now on his 3rd time to my house to fix a burner on my stove. Super frustrated.

Very disappointed with the contractor you use. They were rude, did come on time 2 hrs late and when he called to let me kow he would be late, I stated my disappointment in the time, and he said, " Well do you want me to come or not'? Not professional at all. Also, everytime I tried to call Affordable Appliance, yo would get a VM, not matter the day or time stating the VM was full. How does a business run these days without a recptionist?? Bottom line a 20 yr old dishwasher was not DX as being replaced but to put in a new part even though the contractor never even looked at the dischwasher, turned it on nothing. I am getting the money for the part $198.38 to place towards the installation... Read More

Well your not off to a great start, I purchased your home warranty today after I had received and email with it showing that for signing up now i would get a reduced service call fee of $45.00 so I jumped on board. Then after all said and done I went to my account contract online with your company and it shows it at $60.00 for the service calls. So I called the number listed and after being transferred three times I get told oh we can't help you today call back tomorrow. Well if this is a sign of how things are going to go dealing with Choice warranty, I may not want to continue with this. I will give you one more chance if not impressed well time to cancel.

The sales rep said the charge was for 3 years and the price was to be paid in 4 monthly payments. None of these are listed in the "coverage" in the 'contract" sent to me by email. Please make these issues clearly stated or this contract will be cancelled. I asked for a statement by email which listed charges and what was covered by email before I agreed to his . He said he would not but that I would get a copy by email and a hard copy in US mail once I agreed to his proposal. I should not have agreed until I saw in writing what I was buying because not all I agreed to showed up in the email I received from Choice.
