Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

They were very helpful when I called with the problem. They said it could be 24 hrs for someone to call with appointment but it only took about an hour and they were the next day. Thank you you your prompt response.

Far too many exclusions in the fine print. I had about a dozen claims on four properties over a year and only had 2 of them covered.

Choice Home Warranty has been slow to respond and did not cover our refrigerator, as promised. They did not have a service provider in our area and only offered $387 to replace our refrigerator (which ended up costing us $1,800 out-of-pocket.) Their customer service department personnel are not helpful and downright rude. I was told to take it through the New Jersey Consumer Advocate Department, and I never got a response from my written letter. I DO NOT RECOMMEND CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!

Debbie came to look at the toilet, snakes it, and figured out something was in pipes. Called her supervisor to get the play for extracting the toilet, they said yes, so she did. Worked on the whole job for hours and fixed it. She was very polite and sweet, which showed she loves her job. Thanks debbie and choice!

The positive! Speedy response! Negative!! My decision to accept a cash offer was not made clear. I saw no other option so I assumed it was the only option. I felt frustrated and deceived. My policy said I would receive replacement value if appliance was not able to be fixed. The replacement value offered was half of the value of my appliance. Very disappointed.

from wednesday to tuesday it took that long to reach someone to replace our range, yes, tech. did put in that the part for the range could not be replaced or ordered but, CHW did not want to replace what retailers today sell a range. finally, after a week we had to settle for the offer that CHW would pay which did not cover the entire price of the range!! very unhappy with the outcome.
