Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Our home plumbing system was taken care of earlier than WE expected ! We live in a very rural area. Choice Home Warranty did a great job in finding an excellent plumbing service ! Edwards Home IMPROVEMENT ! They did a wonderful job, servicing our need ! And they were able to do the repairs even earlier than originally scheduled, preventing futher damage. Thanks to both CHW, and Edwards Home Improvement for a job well done !

We had to replace our HVAC, so we called Choice to file a claim since this is supposed to be a covered item. Choice denied the claim, said they would not cover it. Now, we have to replace our flue and damper system to make our fireplace safe to operate. Guess what? They don't cover that either. This product and company is a complete scam. They claim to have a B rating with the BBB. Not true. Try C-, which is generous. Don't waste your money.

After 2 months a customer,and one repair call,i find out my pressure regulator on my home heating system isn't covered.I can see why you have a b minus BBB rating,and your NOT a BBB member.I pray your company goes out of business,as I am sure it will.Your company is a disgrace.If I had the time,i would sue you for false advertising,but I am too busy to deal with you. I figure my 150 dollars was well spent to find out how much of a rip off you are before I made too many monthly payments.

Choice Home Warranty company are simply con artists and liars to their customers!! They love to point out in the contract when something is in THEIR favor and they can get out of paying for something...BUT when it is in the customer's favor--they still get out of paying!! They opted to "replace" my oven instead of repair it, which is fine and they have the right to do. My contract states that they are obligated to "replace and install appliance with like item".. they offed me $900 and said that is all they are authorized to do. My replacement will be about $2,000. After paying premiums for 1-1/2 years, I put in a claim for some dental work. I was told that I could have a look-see for $24, and I could have a cleaning for $54. Are you kidding me? Don’t enroll in this insurance for any reason, as they are nothing but liars and thieves. I see below that the block is checked stating that I have not received compensation for my comment, and that my opinions reflect my authentic experienced as a customer or customer. If I had, I would place that money toward a dental cleaning.

Gregory Hartens(sp) lied to us on 9/17/18. He said he would make our Condo at 5900 #4 Patterson Ave, effective with Choice on 8/23/18, to coincide with our home 407 Harlan Circle, Richmond, VA. We paid $1100+ for a 42 month plan and we saw it was effective on 9/17/18, not on 8/23/18, as he promised. If you cannot keep this promise, please cancel the 42 month coverage on 5900 Patterson Ave and credit our card back the $1100+ you withdrew in September.
