Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

We had a water line leak at one of our toilets. I called Choice and they set up an appointment to have it checked. In reality, it was more than just the water line. The tech advised them of what was needed and all was taken care of. From the time I called until the time the problem was resolved was a little over 24 hours.

I am receiving a request to write a review on an unfinished work order. The actual repairman gets 5 stars-above and beyond. Home Choice- 3 stairs if that much. The ice maker on my frig isn't working, and after waiting for a repair man to come out ( to his credit he came earlier than he initially planned to come, which I was grateful) He then told me he had to wait for approval from home choice warranty to fix it- that took several days, and now I receive a request to review when I still have an un-repaired ice maker. So, my assessment depends on how easily the problem actually gets fixed. It should not take several days to get approval to replace an ice maker. Further, though... Read More

The service provider was very thorough. A suggestion would be to let the customer know if appt needs to be reschedule, the CHW email to reschedule is automatic from CHW. The contractor does not get it and does not know the new time. Customer MUST call contractor to set new time.

Glad that my A/C is working again, don't understand why it took so long to repair because the Nick the first tech trouble shot the problem and said it needed a new fan and wiring whip on his first visit? When he returned the second time he was assisted by another tech and they only installed the fan, the unit ran for about 30 minutes when I called again to report that it was tripping the breaker again. When Nick returned the following morning he trouble shot the problem and said that it still needed new wiring whip, he went to shop and returned with the wiring harness and installed same and unit has been running since. Sometimes second guessing you tech's just eats up time and money. Very... Read More

Today I extended my home coverage for an additional year. The person that helped me was very nice and helpful. My main concern with CHW is that I was sold a warranty on my Motor Home. I had a couple of claims and was then told that the warranty was not valid because it was for my Motor Home. I told the sales person my situation when he called me and offered the coverage. I have been told that I have a claim pending or that has been paid, but not to me, and that is the reason that I could not receive a refund. I just don't know what to say. I believe if you want to keep a good name you should do right by your customers and I have not been treated right. I would like to have my claim paid... Read More

I want to thank you for your speedy response to my claim. I do have a problem with your claim that if it can't be repaired, you would replace. Well, my oven couldn't be repaired, so you agreed to replace. I was told you would pay me $349.99 to replace my oven, tell me where to find a NEW oven for that amount!!!! On top of that, I wouldn't receive the money for 30 days!!!!!! You are expecting me to replace my oven for $350 AND go a month with no stove to cook on!!!! Not good! Not happy customer!

The only thing is that if the constructors Would have had the part he could not put it in.I don’t think Choice needs to be the one ordering the part for replacement just like other Home Warranty , I have done business with they leave it up to the contractor to order the parts and get it in because sometimes they have it on the truck
