Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

Contract & Price - 5 / 5

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

On Sunday night around 10:30 pm it was 33° outside and of course our furnace went out! I called the 800# for CHOICE HOME WARRANTY, a few simple questions answered and the next morning we had a repair man at the door. I was surprised at how simple it was to submit a claim and all I had to do was make one phone call! I am grateful we had a home warranty and the cost is very low. I will never be without a home warranty!! This saved us from thousands of dollars and had the furnace up and going within an hour. Thank you Choice Home Warranty.

Service is rather fast. But expect some unexpected extra expenses over the service call charge.

Warning - deceptive sales people! The first time I signed up, the salesperson never asked how many water heaters, clothes washers, etc. were in our home. Many times we found out (the hard way) that things weren't covered. When it came time to renew, I wasn't interested because I'd added up the cost of the warranty versus how much was actually covered/paid out. The salesperson ASSURED me that he would add all my extra appliances in, and we agreed on a premium price. Then the paperwork arrived -- he hadn't covered everything as promised! After two months of phone calls and run-around, the manager (Akim) said he'd rather cancel me than stand behind the promises his rep made. NOT cool. Oh, and... Read More

I renewed my warranty plan since I was pleased with their service and the contractors that they have to fix items that break down. There are other companies similar to Choice and after having them as my warranty company for the past years feel they are the best in the industry.

Window need to be 2/3 hours in place of 5 hours. That is the major draw back and whole day is wasted. It takes around 40 to 50 minutes to get authorization by the technician. With the result technician gets late for next window/appointment. Authorization Dept.needs more employees to expedite the flow of work.
