Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I’ve been satisfied with Choice Home Warranty for 3 yrs. just signed for another 3 yrs. Although they don’t cover all my request they are still my company of choice. They are friendly and courteous each time I call. That to me means a lot. I would recommend that everyone should have a Home Warranty Service.

I have been a CHOICE HOME WARRANTY customer for a couple of years and I am very happy with theirs service. I have made several calls for service, from a/c to dishwasher, to stove, and every service has been handled promptly and courteously. Very satisfied customer overall!

From the time I called my claim until the time I had an appointment with the repairman was probably under 24 hours. The repairman came the next day and found out what part was needed and set up the date to replace the part. Very happy with every aspect of the service.

Replacement Toilet Denied I pay for a PREMIUM choice policy to be told they deny the hair line fracture in my toilet tank.. I have been tryng to fix my toilet since August 12 to have a Choice Plumber not show up... To finally getting another plumber to be told by choice that they deny my hair line facture. My policy CLEARLY states it is covered... WHY are they DENYING ME?

Our home warranty has paid for itself several times over with repairs, or replacement of several appliance, even newer items we never thought we would have problems with. When they breakdown just outside the manufacturer's warranty Choice has been there to take care of us!

More often than not, they send reliable, honest, skilled repairmen who follow through with the proper repairs which brings back life into my old and new appliances that have malfunctioned. I therefore feel confident that I am receiving good, trustworthy service/advice. This alone is worth the cost of membership. In addition, over the past 6 years I received $3K of services, while paying out only $2k for membership (+ the nominal $45 initial service fee)....
