Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

My claim was dealt with promptly and the company (Woodard) they sent to fix my AC was excellent. The repairman arrived the very next day and it didn't take long before he had the unit working again and we could cool off. It was the hottest day of the year and my older brother only has one lung so it was essential that we got the AC fixed right away! Thank you CHW and Woodard for a very cool repair!

This is the worst home warranty I ever heard of. They will not stand by their word. They send contractors to your home that cannot repair the problem. Then they wiggle out of every major repair. I don't use the hate word often but this company is a major rip-off. I don't see how they are still in business. I have a broken washing machine as they authorized me to find a technician and they now do not want to reimbuse me because it is more than $45. And to top it off they claim they don't repair washing machines that has any rust or corrosion. How is it that I have rust or corrosion on a 4 year old front loader washing machine and no one takes the back off to see. I am so done with... Read More

On 4th July, 2019, I was contacted by a marketer from Choice Home Warranty (CHW) to purchase their warranty service. Seeing important appliances covered, I purchased a year service with policy number 849279862. We have a very well-maintained A/C unit at our home working perfectly for 26 years without any breakdown. On August 20th, suddenly, this unit refused to switch on. We filed a claim with CHW the same day. Next week, CHW fixed an appointment for TLJD Mechanical LLC to visit our house to fix the A/C with the expectation that we will pay a service fee of $65. Choice doesn’t even deserve one star. I have been with the company for several years and can’t believe how it has declined in customer service. I will be going with another company that can respond in a timely manner and backs the product they sale. If you’re looking for a home warranty make sure you read the fine print. My air-conditioning claim was denied because my compressor was six years old and they stated it should have lasted 12 years. Unit was On a maintenance plan and they still refuse to cover it.

My air-conditioning went out on the hottest day that we have seen in our area in a long while - 96 degrees. I called on a Wednesday and within an hour my call was responded to, a contractor assigned and the contractor called me within the hour for a date of the next day. He was scheduled for 11:00 to 3:30 but called at 10:00 to see if they could come earlier because of the scorching weather. I was impressed not only with the work of the contractor (K and I heating and air conditioning in Dumfries, VA) but the way that Choice Home Warranty was on it immediately!!! Job well done to all involved....
