Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

Called the Choice repair phone number to report my dryer problem. Checking my emails shortly after I had been scheduled for the next day. The company designated to make the repairs called to finalize the repair details. The repair technician arrived in a timely manner. The technician repairing our dryer was very knowledgeable and professional. He quickly and correctly identified the problem, had the parts in his van and repaired the dryer without delay. Currently, dryer is working great. Couldn't be happier with this experience.

My AC broke down on Wednesday afternoon. I called CHW at that time to file a claim and about 3 hours later I received word that a tech would come the next day on Thursday between 11AM and 3PM. The Tech showed up at 12:15PM and checked out the AC system and informed me the fan motor was no longer functional. He told me he would have to get a fan motor and it would take about a half hour for him to get it at the company's warehouse. He returned in about 40 minutes, installed the motor, and returned the system to operation. AMAZING! Had a clothes dryer issue. Screeching noise. Reported it on Friday. Had an appointment for Monday set up via email within an hour. Technician arrived at appointed time. Diagnosed and fixed problem within an hour or so. Had the required part on his truck. Also oiled a couple of items to prevent future problems.

Communication was really poor. seemed like she was in a hurry to get rid of me. You have my money now but I don't know if my policy is in effect yet. she never returned or confirmed my cell message. I canceled my other service as she suggested so as far as I know I am not covered if anything goes wrong. Really upset at this point and am thinking of going back to my other service.

I signed up for Choice Home warranty. Salesman talked very sweetly and signed up for 3 years on my 2 homes. I had 3 separate issues/claims with appliance after 45 days. But they denied all of them and I had to pay for all. Then I called to cancel the service and they charged $50 on each policy and prorated charges for ZERO service. Don't get scammed or cheated by these people.

I called Choice on August 28th to inquiry about their Home Warranty Program. The person I spoke with named Anthony, was very attentive and professional. Based on my own situation, he worked with me to choose a plan that fit my needs and in the process, I believe I got a great deal. A better deal than my current home warranty provider. Lower costs and more coverage. One can't go wrong with that. When or if I have to make A service request, I'll be able to give an updated opinion.
