Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I put my claim in on a Saturday night for a very stopped up drain. No takers from your list by Sunday afternoon. I kept working on finding a way to unclog and finally was able to do so myself. I guess I saved the $75 fee.

The teck was here. it was determined that major repair would be required, but a decision wass made to rep0lace it I received an e-mail telling me They were sending me a check. I asked the teck if he would be involved in replacing the microwave? He said no..I am 83 and unable to replace the old one with a new one. I trust you will take care of this for me? Thank you

choice home warranty covers very little, overdoes the sales solicitations for renewal and is mostly geared to performance that is in the $45 range.

You sent out a technician in a timely manner. I received an email from Choice stating the parts were unavailable and that you were sending me a check for $175.00 to replace the toilet. First of all I though you replaced or fixed broken items. What is the $175.00 supposed to do, you can’t buy a toilet for $175.00. The next question is who is going to install it and who’s paying the plumber to install? I appealed your decision on Friday and was told that someone would contact me within 24 hours, that hasn’t helped. This is the first service call that we have used with choice, and I am extremely unhappy with the services so far.

On January 3, 2020 the motor on our garage door opener went out. I called CHW and made a claim...about 2 pm . Within 30 minutes, I received a phone call letting me know the name of the contractor and phone number to contact regarding my claim. I called the business and someone came out the same afternoon and installed a new motor. We couldn't be more satisfied with the service that we received CHW and the contractor they have in place to service our area. Thank you CHW!

Choice home warranty has its pros and cons. Pros: if a larger system breaks, the service fee can be worth it. If it’s something small, it is not worth it at all. The hard thing is that sometimes it is hard to tell the difference without the opinion of the professional. The contractors sent out have been hit or miss. Zach smith mechanical is 5 stars. He is fantastic, helpful, and timely. A.garcia on the other hand is not timely, and came back to my home from the hardware store drunk and didn’t finish the job. I think the service could be improved by vetting the businesses they send to people’s homes better. Maybe offer certain customers a discounted price for a detailed and honest... Read More
