Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I have had home warranty coverage with Choice over a year. I placed a service call in January 2020, was given an appointment with local electrical contractor. Contractor NEVER showed for appointment. When I called contractor inquiring why they did not show up I was informed they have had several instances of Choice not paying them for the service they performed - thus refused to accept any further referrals by Choice. A call was placed to Choice informing them of the situation and a 2nd contractor was assigned to perform the electrical work needed at my residence. Quick response however wait to hear from dispated company to get final appointment. Even then time varies. But got my problem fixed for the 45 dollar service fee!!

This was my first service call and I'm impressed. I logged the service call online and the confirmation number provided immediately, next within a couple of hours I received an email stating the company, technician, and schedule information for the service. The technician visited my house as per the schedule and provided the service. It was a leak from the garbage disposal which the technician determined that it cannot be repaired so immediately he replaced that unit. It was a quick and clean install. Thanks for the great service!

I switched to choice because when I called they said you covered septic clean out. Now I understand you won't cover the clean out unless raw sewage is coming in to my home making my home unlivable. I specifically asked the question when I change home warranty company's about this. No septic company in las vegas will honor your policy, for obvious reasons now I find out. YOU DON PAY!!! I am a 31 year real estate agent with remax, I will never never refer your company again to any of my clients, and I will let realtor associates know the experience I have had with your trade deceptive company. Extremely disappointing experience. I am canceling my policy today.
