Have been a customer for the life of my home 25+ years, never had issue with AHS until now with a small hidden clause in the contract circa 2016 version that states under section I. LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS Coverage Exceptions Applicable to Certain Breakdowns 6. AHS is not responsible or liable for repairs or replacements when the malfunction is due to: b. Accidents, fire, freezing, water damage, electrical failure or surge, or excessive or inadequate water pressure; Water pressure issue if too high then contract is not in effect water heater failed...water pressure issue not covered toilet failed ...water pressure issue not covered you get the idea even if you have a water... Worthless!!!! I have paid over $4000 in the last 5 years to ensure my systems and appliances were covered with the “ultimate” protection plan. Filed my first claim today for my water heater that went out. Guess what? They won’t cover it!! READ THE FINE PRINT!!!
The problem with this company is if a trade damage your property the customer must deal with the unwilling contractor because AHS has no resolution department. (Claim to have one... righttt) If AHS hires a licensed and bonded contractor to do work in a customer’s home and damage occurs good customer service should require AHS who hired contractor to act as a liaison between the parties for suitable resolution. Two years and I still have a hole in my roof where a Harkins Air Conditioning contractor slipped off beam. AHS response when told contractor refused to fix damages was the contract states we don’t get involve with those disputes it’s in the contract. What the heck? Looking for... Read More
Too bad zero isn't an option! I have a home warranty with American Home Shield. I had a service call in with them in which they sent a company THEY contracted to do the said repairs. Well the repairs were done and I had to pay for some of them due to a pressure valve that was faulty. So the repairs weren’t right. So I call AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. They tell me I have to call the company THEY contracted to get them to come back out and correct the problem. WTH?!?! I didn’t hire the company for the repairs. THEY DID!!!! Not worth of time and money. Have to wait 45 minutes to talk to someone on the phone.
After replacing one or two broken appliances this company stop taking calls. Not even worth one star!
As a first time home buyer, I felt reassured when we purchased a warranty policy with our property. However, I now feel like the whole thing was a big scam. I moved in after 3 arduous months of renovation, only to find that the washer didn't spin. Everything went downhill from there. The local service provider was horrible - barely looked at my machines and made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. Then, they took almost 2 weeks to file their paperwork. During this time, I called both American Home Shield and the service provider every other day to no avail. Each time, I asked American Home Shield to follow up with the provider and me. If I could give this company a ZERO I would. After dealing with them for over 6 months, 7 service calls a damaged wall, and wrong parts ordered on a freezer repair, I finally gave up. No one at this company follows up, and as some of the previous reviews have stated, they do hang up on you when you ask for a Supervisor. The contractors that they hire are worthless. When my auto renewal was about to go through, I could not get through to the “cancellation” department. Every time I called it immediately went straight to a busy tone. Do NOT use this company. Run from your contract now before they scam you into a renewal that you don’t want.
I WISH I had checked further before I signed on with this company. The Customer Rep. I spoke with lied, refused to give me a Supervisor or even another Agent, and said she was in Memphis, TN. However, her accent was Tagalong (very heavy accent), and, as usual when you deal with Overseas Representatives, they will DISCONNECT YOU IF YOU ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR. After 30 minutes of holding "she" disconnected me. I say "she", because she said her name is "Daryl". It's possible - but I've NEVER heard a woman named Daryl - and I've been on this earth for 67 years. American Home Shield along with Premier Appliance Services was absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. I had an order for a washer repair. I paid the $100 service fee and the repairman came out. He(James) said the ring on the motor was broken and not to use the washer. He said he would order the parts. When I called to check on the part order, they said it would be 3-5 days. I called in 5 days. They THEN told me the repair was DENIED!! Now why they wouldn't tell me when I called on the part order, I have no idea! They said Premier said it was denied. I called Premier, they said AHS said it was denied! I had a full scale run-around. Don't use either of these companies
I would not recommend not even considering insurance with these guys! I've gotten ripped off twice from the swimming pool insurance. They came and fixed nothing both times. Can't get them back to fix what they came to fix in the first place. I had it fixed privately, and quickly so it didn't over heat and ruin my filter pump and fixed for well under American Home Shield's $1000 service fee. I previously, for five years, had "Old Republic" and they were really good, fair, and quick to make the repairs.
