PetFirst offers an enrollment process that is easier than most. They do not require a vet exam, and accident coverage starts in 24 hours. Additionally, the company has no upper age limit on enrollment, and no waiting periods for a few conditions many other providers outright just don't cover. PetFirst also has a healthy pet discount for every year you don't make a claim. The upper tier plans, however, are on the pricier side, and the company does not offer unlimited coverage.

Petfirst does not restrict you to per incident or per illness limits. However, the company does have annual limits. They let you choose $5,000, $10,000, and $20,000. While the $5,000 limit plan has a monthly deductible in the average pet insurance range, the two higher limit plans get pricey. My pup developed kennel cough after I adopted her on a Sat. eve. The pamphlet that I received upon adoption stated that they were closed until Mon morning so I was not able to activate at time of adoption. I called Monday morning to activate the policy. On Tuesday I noticed a hacking cough so I made an appt for the following day. My claim was denied. No explanation. I had to call to talk to a rep and was told it was because it was considered a pre-existing condition. Appeals and arguing are not worth it... Denied claim on dog who had been continually insured with them for two years because they restarted the waiting period for the dog when I added a new dog to the policy and they gave us a new policy number.

I was very happy with Petfirst a few years ago with my first dog. They were helpful, paid the claims in a timely manner, and were very helpful. I used them for years. With my current dog I have had their insurance not even a year and they have refused my claims, and because she is about to turn a year older they are raising my monthly even though they have never paid on a claim. When I called up to talk to the representative about this I expressed my displeasure with their service and it seemed like she could care less if they had my business or not. I felt they really are more in it for the money than actually caring about your pet.

Misleading - Lifetime policy is only good when they renew it. DO NOT USE THIS GROUP - they take your premiums, increasing them year after year advertising you have a LIFETIME limit and the first time my dog had a claim when he was 7, after I'd spent thousands of dollars on premiums, my policy was not renewed. So the Lifetime was only until I had one claim for less than $300 - I had a balance of $4,750 Lifetime left. They also LIED when they sold me the policy saying how great it would be to have a Sr pet with a Lifetime balance. Bank what you'd pay monthly and finance your own pet care. They are terrible. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. Poor customer service. Painful for our vet's office to deal with on claims. Our credit card was stolen this year and they claim to have emailed and called us but no emails go through. Would be awesome to actually get a LETTER before they cancel your policy!

I have had this insurance for 9 years. I have rarely used it other than for basic needs. I get denied about 50% of the time. Most recently I got denied for a surgery...the main reason I got insurance. I have $7500.00 to draw from yet I got denied my claim for small print exclusion. I get to pay monthly premiums and $5000.00 medical bill. I don't see how this insurance is even in the top 10. It sucks in my book. Underwriters get a heart! Emma Pavich

Don't waste your money on this garbage pet insurance. You'll be waiting forever to get reimbursed on claims. That is if you even do get reimbursed!!!!

I have had this insurance for a few years & was satisfied ,until the premiums went up substantially, I then spoke to a representative who helped me choose a policy, which I found out to be just awful. So now I am waiting over 2 weeks to speak to a manager ,because they have no direct line ,who said my voice mail didn t work (when another representative left a voicemail), & it seems I m getting a major run around . I already spoke to numerous representatives why I need to speak to a manager & they are still asking me to clarify why I need to speak to a manager. Because I feel the chosen policy was misrepresented ...
