Healthy Paws Pet Insurance review
I am a certified dog trainer. I've researched all the pet insurance companies. While this doesn't pay for routine visits, it is by far the best. The main reason I got this was in case we were faced with a huge bill which usually means diagnostic tests and lab work. I chose the $250 deductible and 90% coverage. One difference is it's not per incident. The $250 deductible is for everything that may come up in a year. I have a friend with another big name pet insurance who has $250 but it's for each item. His dog hurt his leg, the $250 gets deducted before reimbursement. Three months later, ear infection, he has to satisfy the $250 again. Not the case here. So if I get a bill for $2000 for lab work, meds etc. and lets say the office visit costs $70, first the $250 comes out bringing the outstanding balance to $1750 less the office visit of $70 which would then leave $1680 as the covered amount. I would receive a check for $1512. If within the years time god forbid something else happened that cost the same $2000 again, I would get a reimbursement check for $1762 because I would have eaten up my deductible with the first incident. You can see how you would have averted a disastrous financial situation and not have to possibly in a lot of cases put an animal down. I hope I don't have to submit another claim as I just had to and I'd gladly make my monthly payments and get nothing in return, but it's great to know that if something should arise I don't have to think twice about getting a test done or my dog treated for whatever comes up. I highly recommend Healthy Paws and Rocky my Pit Bull/Retriever/Bullmastiff says thank you too.

Healthy paws has been amazing to me and my dog during his emergency! They were super helpful and cooperative and were able to assist me last minute for a pre approved surgery so that there was no delay for his treatment. Their customer service during and after my boys surgery has been above and beyond. I have recommended them to all of my friends with pets.

Thankfully I haven't had to use yet, I had 0 deductible policy on my dog, at beginning of this year they increased my premium and now I have a deductible. So no I'm not happy about it.

Regarding the online quoting system + let me include multiple pets on same quote - can't figure out how to pay an annual amount rather than monthly - they add $25 to the first payment for account set up =deal breaker

Liston in their customer service department was awesome. He explained everything clearly and went way above the call of duty to help. I am so glad that I cam back to Trupanion, No gimmicks or hidden fees. Straight forward so you really do know what you are paying for and what is and is not covered. How good is that? Thank you Liston! Jerry

I've not actually had my pets covered under this insurer, but they are among the ones I obtained quotes from while shopping around. I have 2 cats; a 4 yr old male & a 12 yr old female. The female is actually in better health than the male, with his frequent UTIs, however because she is over 8 yrs old the best plan they will give me is a $500 deductible & 70% reimbursement, with various limitations. And at the same rate as the comprehensive plan for my male, which has a $100 deductible & reimburses at 90%.

My boy, "Mr. Pipes," has been through hell these last few years. He's had his gall bladder removed, several bouts of pancreatitis, a stroke, an inflamed liver, tumor biopsies and more. Our total vet bills have easily topped $20k. Trupanion has covered 90% (excepting exam fees) with absolutely NO hassle. They even directly deposit the funds into my checking account within 2 weeks of submitting the claims. I'm impressed beyond belief. It honestly seems too good to be true, but it is.
