PetFirst offers an enrollment process that is easier than most. They do not require a vet exam, and accident coverage starts in 24 hours.

Additionally, the company has no upper age limit on enrollment, and no waiting periods for a few conditions many other providers outright just don't cover.

PetFirst also has a healthy pet discount for every year you don't make a claim. The upper tier plans, however, are on the pricier side, and the company does not offer unlimited coverage.

We have had PetFirst for Years and our policy has remained in force the entire time. Recently, our dog developed further complications from an issue diagnosed a number of years ago (while he was covered). All of our current claims have been denied because his condition was considered chronic after the initial diagnosis. So if a problem comes up while you are covered they will call it chronic for future claims and deny future claims even though you were covered at the time of initial diagnosis.

I recommend PetFirst for all the positive reasons because I used the claims process. Not only has the PetFirst family been compassionate about our loss, they were and always have been helpful in filing a claim. I have had several claims processed in my dog's lifespan of 11 years. They have been prompt in reimbursement payments. They also would work with my budget from year to year. So I am very pleased with the company.

In the 4+ years that I've had this insurance policy, while I was happy to finally get to the end results, for my first time having to use it, everything it took to get to the end was a not a pleasant experience. From the amount of time it took for them to "process" the claim, to the lack of communication throughout the process, the claim process and turnaround time needs some work. I've spoken with other pet owners about several other insurance companies to to see if maybe this was just they way it is with most companies, and none have had to go through the lengthy process that we just did for a surgery that's a fairly common one among dogs. PetFirst Pet Insurance through Metlife has been one of the best choices I've made for my 2 year old British Shorthair cat named KJ. I have shopped around for several months and NOBODY beats their prices! They cover more services, too. I recommend everyone looking for good pet insurance to try them out. You will not be sorry.

Metlife won't pay me. Its been 8 months or more since the claim was approved. MetLife implemented a new payment system that did not work for me and they would not help me fix it. I asked for a check to be sent and it never arrived. A person in mngmt said they would help me find out what happened to the check or fix the payment link and she stopped communicating. I am out over $500 and no one at MetLife will find out what happened to the check and report back to me. I am so angry. My dog needs shots and I can't pay for them as my cr cd is still charging interest on the last vet visits. I am ready to report them to the ins commission of NY and TX. I have been a customer for over 8 years. Filing claims are easy. Every claim I have filed has been processed quickly and efficiently. I received the money quickly after the claim is approved. I am entirely satisfied with this company.

Claims are easy to make, and reimbursements are pretty quick. I was very grateful I had them when my kitty was having some skin issues and racked up a bunch of expenses quickly, many of which were covered by her insurance and I was able to get reimburesed. The peace of mind is worth it alone.

The MetLife pet insurance customer service representatives are super helpful. I called for assistance with my pets’ insurance and the gentleman on the call made my first time speaking with Metlife’s customer service phone-line a great experience! Jeff Knox who was the representative on the call with me was super helpful, friendly, answered all of my questions and accommodated all of my needs as a pet insurance client. Jeff also showed interest in providing me a high-quality customer service call. He broke down different costs, premium and deductible options that would provide a good coverage for my kittens, but also best meet my budget.

My brother and I called to get more information about Pet insurance for our little one and we got the best assistance and guidance we could have ever asked for. Akil Brown was very attentive, informative, respectful and very sweet. Akil helped us come up with the best insurance plan that would benefit the health of our little guy. I cannot express how satisfied/happy my brother and I felt to have spoken to such a wonderful person. Hope there were more people like Akil in the world. I would give a higher rating if I could.
