Embrace Pet Insurance Agency LLC is a pet insurance provider based in Cleveland Ohio that sells policies for dogs and cats. They were founded in 2003 and are underwritten by American Modern Home Insurance Company.

Embrace gets good marks from us mainly on the strength of customer satisfaction.

Even though plans are a little on the pricier side, and unlimited coverage is not an option, customer feedback is among the most positive.

Also, Embrace offers standard coverage of many conditions and treatments not offered at all by most plans. These include behavioral therapy and prosthetics.

Embrace sets itself apart from the pack in coverage because, in addition to providing for usual accidents and illnesses, the company also covers various items not traditionally offered under other companies' standard plans.

These include prosthetic limbs, behavioral therapy, and alternative treatments. Embrace also offers prescription drug coverage and a wellness plan at an additional cost.

As with all pet insurance plans, Embrace will not cover pre-existing conditions if they were apparent before the policy purchase.

Embrace's waiting periods are pretty much standard when compared to other companies.

For accidents and illnesses, the waiting period is 14 days. However, in some states, the waiting period for accidents is only 48 hours or two days.

There is an additional six month waiting period for dogs for orthopedic conditions, but there is an option to have this reduced to as little as 14 days.

Embrace will not allow pets older than 14 to enroll in illness coverage, which some other plans do.

Embrace has some of the best feedback we've seen when it comes to customer service.

The majority of online reviews mirror generally positive experiences. To make a claim you must fill out the claim form that was included with the enrollment email.

You can also download the form on the website or have it mailed to you. The form must be filled out by a veterinary staff member. Include all relevant invoices and receipts and fax or email them all to the company.

Embrace offers direct deposit to get you the reimbursement as quickly as possible. Furthermore, beginning recently, claim forms can now also uploaded through MyEmbrace, the company's online customer account.

I enrolled with Embrace pet insurance 3 years ago. My Labrador retriever had surgery for a torn cruciate ligament. I submitted my claim 2 days after surgery and Embrace was very quick to process the claim. I am very happy with Embrace and the service received. The price is very reasonable and I am very thankful I had the insurance. There were so many companies to choose from and I am glad that I went with Embrace.

Amazing! My puppy, he is really almost 9 years old, has been with Embrace since the very beginning. He started with Embrace at two months old. I got pet insurance for one reason and one reason only. What if I had to make a decision that I didn't want to make; a decision about his life based on money. That would be worse then the loss itself. I am so happy I made the decision to start with Embrace. Throughout the years, he has had various things happen. Embrace was always there and helped with those bills. Maybe $1k max. We have had our Zippy insured with Embrace for several years without a claim. When Zippy became sick with an eye tumor Embrace was there for us. They quickly handled the claim putting our mind at ease. I have been recommending Embrace to other pet owners ever since.

Embrace is awesome. I am getting towards the end of my insurance year, so I asked my veterinarian staff to submit several claims for 2017. I wasn't sure I was going to exceed my deductible, so I waited until my renewal would be coming up. These claims were faxed on a Saturday, and my first check arrived within that following week. I just received three more checks and it has been only a week and a half. All I can say is fantastic. I have had Embrace for almost five years, and they never cease to amaze me. Well worth the investment, if nothing more than peace of mind. Love Embrace.

Terrible!! My dog had Giardia at 8 weeks old, which I never submitted a claim for and did not have pet insurance, so when I submitted a claim for benefits for a small intestine bacteria Overgrowth six months later when he was almost 8 months old, they refused to pay because they said the vet never did a fecal test to rule out Giardia. My vet sent them a letter, citing veterinarian studies which show absolutely no correlation between Giardia and SIBO, which is why she did not put my dog through a needless test. She did a blood test instead to confirm. Since the blood test confirmed SIBO, there was definitely no reason to run the fecal exam. Had the blood test come back negative for... Read More

This company is VERY expensive. I started out with a $575.00 premium. In two years they raised the premium by $1,000.00. If you have a claim they raise the premium to the point where it isn't affordable. I have emailed them three times and have yet to have a response. They were supposed to give a 5% discount which I can find no trace of. There are a lot of other pet insurance companies out there and hopefully there are some who aren't as unreasonable and jump up the prices on premiums like Embrace.

I'm really surprised by all the negative comments. I've had my 2 Shih-Tzus and my cat covered by embrace for nearly 4 years now and am so glad that I took the advise of a client of mine who had coverage through them for years. Just this past May one of my babies was diagnosed with diabetes and the other had a really bad skin problem which took months of treatment and multiple vet visits. The one with diabetes was going to the vet once a week and having to stay all day for the first month. Embrace was great in covering the claims and very prompt in processing everything. Nope, just don't. Initially I had went with Embrace because they do medical reviews and reconsider "pre-existing conditions". After a few red flags, I went with my gut, cancelled, and went elsewhere. I submitted my cats records for review as soon as I signed up to get things going. He hardly had any cause I had only had him for a few months. Basically there was a question with our previous insured as to whether or not he had an upper airway infection which could be considered a pre-existing condition. WOW! Read some of the other reviews and I have to say I disagree. I have had Embrace for 2 year and 7 months for my sweet Poppy, she will be 3 mid August. We have had no problems getting claims for illness or wellness. One time we had to submit more paperwork but once that was done the claim was approved. Honestly if you educate yourself and read the policy fully you shouldn't have any problems. You can alway request pre-authorization if you aren't sure. I like knowing I can take her in when needed and know that I won't be stuck with a huge bill. I definitely recommend Embrace! <3

We have two six year-old Belgian Malinois who’ve been Embrace covered, including Wellness, for over 5.5 years. We are thoroughly impressed with coverages, reimbursements, and friendly professional customer service. Highly recommend.
