On 12/05/14, I contacted Select Home Warranty about an issue with my pool pump and they responded with the name and number of their vendor. I called, but that vendor did not work on residential properties, so I had to go back to Select for the name of another vendor. It took 3 calls to finally speak to someone and was told someone would call me back to set-up an appointment to meet me at my house. I contacted Select on 01/05/15 and informed them that I had not heard back from their vendor. They responded on 01/06/15 that my claim was approved. A total fraud! Please Stay Away From Select Home Warranty! I placed a service call on my AC not cooling. A Technician came and said motor was bad and needed to be replaced. He also said it was a covered part and Select Home should pay for it but he did he couldn't get authorization immediately for the repair and he was told that they needed some photos of the unit. I did not hear from them for over 24 hours so decided to call. The representative said that Select Home did not received diagnosis until the time I called; that was not true according to the tech and I was also with tech when he called them. I purchased a plan in March 2015 for $450. When I contacted SHW, they did not return my call and went as far as hanging up on me. They are a scam and will do whatever they can to not fulfill a claim. I then cancelled my warranty and they said they would contact me sometime to give me a refund. If they think I am forgetting about $450, they are crazy. I will be contacting the BBB and small claims court.
My washer broke down on July 16th. The first vendor assigned to fix the issue informed me that Select would not pay more than $100 to them to repair the issue. Their minimum is $250 for the trip charge. The second vendor assigned told me that they don't do business with Select anymore. MANY reviews online state that Select will not pay their vendors invoices for at least a year, if at all. It's been 3 weeks and I still have a broken "covered" appliance. They now want me to find my own repair service and pay out of pocket. I want a refund of my 10 months of premiums but they will not do that, nor will they commit to anything in writing. I want to advise every potential customer of this company to review the contract with a fine tooth comb. We have attempted to submit three claims for various items in our house, two of which were outright denied. The final claim was approved, however they authorized only $95 for a mounted 1000 watt Microwave (our deductible is $45). The refused to include installation for the replacement microwave, despite the fact that a non-permanently mounted microwave is excluded from the contract. After an exhaustive search for a mounted 1000 watt Microwave, I could not find any product that came close to $140. Don't do business with these crooks. Their contract has a nasty little clause buried where you don't notice it that says they can refuse coverage any time they want by simply stating that it is not "cost effective"... and they don't have to define what "cost effective" means even when you ask them to, so they can simply refuse service to you anytime at their whim and you have no recourse when they do. I needed a simple repair to replace the plastic agitator in my top-loading clothes washer because part of one of its plastic arms had broken off due to normal use of several years. Avoid this fraudulent company at all cost! In their warranty, furnace units are supposed to be covered. The furnace in our rental property in Wisconsin malfunction in January during subzero temperatures. Our tennant complained to our property manager who called Select Home Warranty (SHW). A contractor was sent who replaced the circuit board which fixed the problem. We paid the contractor $307, filed a claim with SHW and sent the receipt. SHW demanded pictures of the replaced part. As ridiculous as that sounds, we contacted the contractor who fortunately did not dispose of the part yet, took a picture of it and sent it to us which we sent to SHW. I had problem with my refrigerator, i called them and the only thing that I got after calling several times in one month, was a phone number and when I called the number, I was told that they don't work with SHW. That scares me and i think the whole thing is fraud.
