Home Warranty of America offers comprehensive home warranty plans that cover more than most other basic plans.

Although their annual premiums and call service fees are on the higher end, when compared to similar offers, the company does provide excellent additional coverage such as the GreenPlus option, which replaces old systems and appliances with high-efficiency models.

With extensive coverages, fitting prices, a flexible cancellation policy, and 24/7 claims processing, Home Warranty of America provides everything a discerning customer could wish for.

Coverage Options - 3.5 / 5

Home Warranty of America offers two plans, the Premier and Premier Plus, which include coverage for over 30 items traditionally not covered under basic home warranty plans.

The company also provides optional coverage for secondary appliances, saltwater equipment, and even primary and secondary pools or spas.

Besides offering a remarkably extensive coverage, HWA also has a GreenPlus plan that allows customers to replace their covered systems or appliances with Energy Star-qualified products.

This last option is available for $5.77 a month or $75 a year, which delivers excellent value, considering the amount of water and electricity customers can save using high-efficiency models.

Claims Processing - 3 / 5

Home Warranty of America charges different service fees for each plan, between $60-$100.

Though they have a standard 30-day waiting period before the coverage can begin, maintenance records aren't necessary to receive service.

HWA states they are not responsible for routine maintenance of systems, appliances, or components.

Clients who want those items to remain in working order will have to service themselves.

Two excellent things about this company is that they offer 24/7 claims processing and though they require authorization for contractors before providing services, these don't necessarily have to be from their network.

I have 5 home warranty accounts with your company for investment properties - The WORST ever home warranty - accounts are suspended 2 days after receiving a bill for service; therefore claims remain on hold and repairs are not made, repairmen either don't show or takes days for them to go out, this was supposed to make my job as a property manager easier - it's made it so much more difficult. I will not renew with this company and as a real estate agent will never recommend this company - WORST!!!!

Home Warranty of America is a frustrating company, to say the least. Their policies for arranging repairs seem intentionally obscure. If I didn't know better, I'd say there were so many rules and conditions so that they pay out as little as possible! But of course, HWA wouldn't do that. They care about their customers. That's why they only cover certain things, under certain conditions, and are very vague about what those conditions and things are until they finally get back to you after two weeks of purposeful stalling to explain why HWA is paying $60 of a $990 repair bill for your septic system in a two-sentence email. Keep your money. Save it. If you need to make repairs to your home,... Read More

HWA is frustrating for quite a few reasons, all claims representatives (it is always 1 of 4 that answers) are in Guatemala. Only one is really hard to understand with her accent, and she is also the one that seems least knowledgeable. Two of the gentlemen, Dennis and one I can't remember his name are always so nice and helpful, at least as helpful as they can be - they have zero authority. Alex the 3rd gentleman is not very polite and never comes across as understanding. We have had to have three appliances serviced since June and each one as been a complete pain! We have the top tier plan and it was expensive, so it is very disappointing so far. Washer, 3 visits and then we told... Read More

This is horrible company serving in New York. I had plumbing claim last 6 weeks, still need to fix. They don’t have any plumber in Longisland New York. My advise don’t choose this company.

Some of the worst customer service ever. Finally got warranty canceled but no check for refund. I was told it would take a week to issue the check and two weeks to process it, which will be 100% faster than the one claim we filed and they denied, in spite of it stating clearly as a covered item.

This is honestly the worst company I have ever dealt with. They only care about making their money not helping consumers.

Horrible and dishonest company. I submitted a request to have my HVAC repaired. The repair was contracted to a business with all 1-star reviews and multiple complaints of improper service. When they came out they diagnosed the issue as a broken condensate pump, which conveniently isn't covered under warranty. I ended up calling a more reputable company, and within a minute they were able to determine that the condensate pump was perfectly fine and there was simply a component not plugged in (may have been unplugged by another contractor). HWA charged me $75 for the initial improper diagnosis which was either intentionally dishonest or completely incompetent. I called to dispute the charge,... Read More

I regret choosing this company for home warranty services when purchasing our home. What a nightmare it has been to get assistance. It started out fine. We reported the fan in our double ovens was out or going out because it was extremely loud all of a sudden. They sent a service provider who ordered a fan. He came back out three weeks later only to install another fan that did the same thing. I called back to HWA and requested a different service provider come out. They sent another one who said the fan was installed wrong. He told me he would order another one. That was about 5 weeks ago. I have spoken to HWA about 5 more times since then and the status hasn't changed. They... Read More

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Their customer service team has no knowledge of their products or the claims process. They do not provide any claims updates via email or phone calls, and they appear to blatantly be giving their clients the run around to discourage them from contacting or filing further claims. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. THEY ARE FRAUDS.

As per the contract, our refrigerator is covered under the Warranty plan. They agreed and sent out to Repairmen. Both said the Compressor is shot and needs to be replaced or repaired. This was on the 25th of September. Every day I call and they state that it will be resolved in 24-48 hours. There have been no resolution. We request that Home Warranty of America honor their contract with us and provide repair or replacement of our refrigerator. The first repairman stated that the compressor was out. The second repairman stated the same and that he would recommend that the entire unit be replaced as compressors were on back order and these units had a tendency to have that problem. The...
