Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I have been on hold for way too long trying to put in a claim. This is my first claim and they couldn't find someone to come out. I am happy that I can contact someone myself but it will take 30 days to be reimbursed.

So far we raised 4 issues in the first 2 months of warranty period. We had refrigerator and microwave issues and since Choice Home couldn't find anyone for repair for 2 weeks, we replaced our refrigerator and microwave with new ones along with factory warranty. Then we had garage door problem and we were told that garage door spring replacement is not covered so we paid from our packet. Now the temperature is 0 deg F outside and our heating system broke. So far its been more than an hour and they haven't found anybody. We cannot stay inside and we are going to our friend's house to stay overnight. Its a no-use warranty. Worst one!

To long period waiting for contractor to call in an emergency situation. Long waiting time calling choice. Not covering the appliance due to lack of maintaining unit. When sometimes there is no maintenance for the appliance. Not covering the expensive items thst go bad.

Serviceman did not appear on time. We had to call to get a committment from him and then he showed up an hour later. I received a call from the service provider this afternoon advising that CHW was not paying them. I cannot understand this as the technician replaced a start switch on the dryer. I have called CHW several times and waited more than the promised wait time. Twice I elected to receive a call back from CHW and twice you failed to call back as promised. WHAT'S GOING ON? I would like a response today.

I am very disappointed with the experience I've had. The Employee was excited to sign me up yet promised to enclose his information in the email to me in case I had any questions once I've received the contract. He fell to do so & when I called back to ask for the name of the person who sold me the service that employee chose to disconnected the call. (I guess he wasn't selling me anything so why wast the time) When I called again to try resolve that issue I wasn't able to get anyone. In my opinion that is not a professional way to handle any customer I chose to cancel my service.

I didn’t choose a rating because I have been completely dissatisfied with CHW service. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company.. i plan to contact the Better Business Bureau to make people aware of the difficulties and inconveniences I’ve had. I wish I could talk to a supervisor that understands customer service.
