Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Each plan also offers optional coverage for septic systems, pools /spas, well pumps, sump pumps, central vacuuming systems, limited roof leaks, second refrigerators, and standalone freezers.

Due to a paperwork error, we were without air Conditioning on a covered repair for an extra three days.
I wanted to try a new warranty company and thought this would be a great fit for me , however I’ve been having AC issues for a month the first time I called them was 5/29/ 18 because my unit was not cooling correctly so they sent out a tech they fixed it for the moment then on 6/24/18 I started to have the same problem again. So I called they rescheduled me another tech four days later who never showed up so after calling them with the complaint they sent out the same tech from the first time. However the tech did figure out what was wrong with the unit he tried to get authorization for the work never got a response in a good time frame so he left to go to another job. So they finally... The company came to my house a day early, no problem. After replacing a part on my A/C I told them two of the A/C vents was not cooling like it should. He said the duck work could be bent I ask would he check for me. He said I don't have a work so I can't check it. He told me I should call and report it. If I continue to have this problem please don't send the same people out.
This is the most crooked operation i have ever came in contact with. I tried on two major issue occasions to file claims and both times was screwed in the end. one was for a central a/c unit the other was my fridge. If you think this is a good idea don’t. If you read all there fine prints you will never get nothing out of them let alone a new item even though they say that we will replace if it can’t be fixed. Oh wait a part isn’t available no more we will give you a check for the average between cost and labor ($430). i don’t know who can buy a new fridge with that. Have A/C service two days ago. June 27, Service is still not working properly.
Contacted Choice at 15:15 hrs on Tuesday 6/26/18 when I discovered Garbage Disposal was spewing water out of bottom of unit. Spoke with "Rachell", explained problem and she scheduled a plumber to come out the next morning between 07:00 and 11:00. Very quick service, well handled, professional, and friendly.
Amigo plumbing arrived at 13:00 after 2 calls advising they would be late. After "Eddy" arrived they did replace the Disposal in 20 minutes after a $45 service call charge. Replacement done quickly with an equivalent disposal. So far so good. No complaints. Now in process of having the boxes under sink replaced through my Home Owners Insurance Policy.
The repairman was on time, did a great job and was friendly. We would definitely use the again when needed.
I understand when Choice Home Warranty dispatches a work order request out to the greater pre-approved vendor population, and they don't "take the bate." In my situation, CHW dispatch sent out my work order request to Waterloo Pool and Spas. Fine enough. The owner of Waterloo Pool and Spas only yesterday informed me his company was not fully vetted much less able to make a claim. This misleading tactic on the part of CHW puts it over the top. The word on the streets is that vendors, in general, do not like to deal with CHW because not only are underbidding them, CHW makes it exceedingly difficult to secure remuneration because of all the "red tape" required to receive compensation for the... I honestly don't know how Choice Home Warranty gets any good ratings at all. We've had to deal with them on very small items for the last couple years. Always without fail, we cannot find anyone in our area who will work with Choice. We end up paying the contractor, then try to squeeze money out of Choice after a lot of emails and phone calls. This past week we had a minor repair. Choice contracted the company, they didn't take down the correct information, and the company had to return at a later date due to not having the right parts. Let's see start claim on the 9th, it's now the 28th and my pool equipment is still leaking. They have had two different companies look at it, they have tried to tell me that I would have to pay the service fee twice, no happening. Wow, I am glad the the equipment ois still running because my pool would be a swamp right now otherwise.
