Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Heatbusters is a family owned business with excellent response time. I met them through Choice Home Warranty and now use them as my maintenance company for all 3 properties that I own. They take care of all A/C needs.

it takes forevert o have work done. i put in a job request and it took 6 days for me to have someone come in and when they did it had to take another week for a part to be ordered and have the technician come out. The technician came out and gound out that another part needed to be order. So it's obvious that it is going to take another 1-2 weks for the job to be do ne. Meaning it'll take 1 month before the job is finally done.

Your service for the most part is very good. However, if I am trying to reach claims department, I am on hold for over 20 minutes most of the time. It may really help to have an option either on your website or to leave a call back number. Even the USPS appears to be able to provide that service.

I was unable to get through on the phone this morning/midday and after 20 minutes I opted to leave my number for a call back. It is now 10:45 pm est and I have yet to get a call. I submitted my questions via email and received an answer in short time. If I have this much difficulty when trying to make a claim o& any urgency I will cancel my policy/contract.

The process of solidifying a warranty is somewhat difficult. With each discussion, things are not included. As a customer, I don't know what I don't know and in working with various agents, while they're very good - they don't have continuity with prior discussion. Not the best experience (and this is the honeymoon period.)
