Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

Contract & Price - 5 / 5

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

I appreciate you guys helping me find a new vendor cause the first one was horrible and he shouldn't even be apart of you guys he has horrible customer service!! But with the new vendor is awesome very nice and professional as well. The only down fall to this experience is that I had to wait on the phone for 4 hrs on last Friday. Which took away from my job. But I still thank y'all for helping with my a.c. unit! It should be fixed tomorrow!

My HVAC unit was shot and barely functioning in 95 degree weather. You were advised by the service technician that the unit was old, leaking, and inefficient and was unable to generate enough power to bring the temperature in the house below 83 degrees. With this information, you declined the repair/replacement because the unit was still 'running'. I was forced to seek outside help to address the problem therefore my 'poor' rating is generous at best.

Dear William Bugg, We regret to hear your frustration. Choice Home Warranty covers mechanical failures that occur from normal wear and tear. At this time, no failure has occurred to your unit. Regards, CHW

I would not recommend it. They had to replace my refrigerator (Side by Side, with icemaker and water ). The MAX they are willing to pay is $600. - According to the case manager these are the "Internal Prices". So, this is a rip off. Most refrigerators are well over 1500. They wont replace the refrigerator, they wont fix it. Why would you get a warranty if when you needed they wont cover you?

We have Choice Warranty for one of our rental apartment. Air conditioner has failed to cool in this hot summer on a Friday night. Claim was reported on Saturday and tech attended on the same day. The service is good. Raman

We recently had a problem with kitchen stove..something is causing a wire in the back to burn and flip the breaker. choice will not pursue the actual cause nor replace the stove..we don't feel the stove is safe. But choice will not replace the stove. They will only. Pay to put a new wire on. Although thus the second time it has happened

I have been a customer for a couple of years now. The customer service reps are always prompt & professional, and the vendors are always on time for the scheduled appointments. I don't know what I would do without my home warranty!

It’s funny how it doesn’t Allow you to put less than average but that’s beside the point. I signed literally a few hours ago and realized that I had a better rate with another company. I tried to cancel almost immidietly. I signed up in less than five min and was on hold for over an hour to try and cancel, and then somehow disconnecting. The nice person who nicely signed me up transferred me before I could even complete my sentence once he heard cancel. Office is now closed and I’m sure I’ll be wating another hour tomorrow.
