Choice Home Warranty is a New Jersey-based company founded in 2008 which offers services contracts. Their plans offer protection against the cost of repair or replacement of major systems and appliances in the home via several plans. Each plan also offers optional coverage for septic systems, pools /spas, well pumps, sump pumps, central vacuuming systems, limited roof leaks, second refrigerators, and standalone freezers.

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

The technician was prompt, helpful and efficient. It was disappointing to hear the company vm was inaccurate w/ stating the technician would have to wait an hour for a cnf to complete the work. I called another # and was told that outgoing message was old and a rep would be available in 15 mins. I was also disappointed to hear that the technician had to haggle to get your company to pay a fair price for the part. I’m also questioning if the part is used/refurbished. I was never given the option to say whether or not I wanted a new part or refurbished one. Is that how repairs through you typically happen? I am thankful for the repair and truly hope it works longterm.

Quick and responsive, and the representatives have been very prompt and professional. The people who have come to make repairs are intelligent and give you their opinion of what needs to be done ,and then they make the repairs unless it is a matter of ordering parts to make the repair.

This review is not for the service itself but my experience with Nathan from the sales team when I signed up with Choice. He had a very unprofessional attitude and kept pushing me to purchase the 3-year plan. I repeatedly told him for 10 MINUTES that I did not want it and he kept going on and on about it. I told him to not try to upsell me and that I knew what I wanted to just sign me up for what I asked for. He wouldn't shut up so I hung up on him. This guy calls me back and kept running his mouth. Pleasant people to deal with. Never had a problem getting service or repair. Even when renewing, the customer service agent made it as painless as possible. :) :) It is comforting to know that we have this coverage.

Sketchy. Rescheduled twice. Increased service window. Cleaned a few items and wanted to charge $350 on top of the warranty fee because cleaning items just so happens to be not included in warranty. Also did these costly items without authorization.
