Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

This is the worst warranty company I have had in 35 yrs of using home warranty companies. DONT PURCHASE...BIG MISTAKE. 6 claims in 2 yrs. 0 coverage. Every excuse in the book of why they can't fix, wont fix or don't have parts. blah blah blah. Plumber said it was electrical problem 45.00 spent, electrician said it was plumber or roofer problem 45.00 spent. this happened 3 times. Roofer said it was plumber problem 45.00 spent. This happened over and over again without any help by HOME CHOICE Customer Service Dept.. Now AC not blowing cold....we don't cover testing for Freon leak....162.50 spent....we don't cover Freon.....350.00 spent....we don't cover if Freon keeps leaking... Read More

The employee was very patient and thorough in explaining your product. When I couldn’t speak anymore because I did not have time we scheduled a time to call me back the following day, which he did and a punctual manner. He was very patient, zero and most importantly nice.

When I called about buying the warranty, I was given a price and term. Agent tried every way he could to get me to upgrade. When I got my confirmation email, I was overcharged and shorted on the term of the policy. Called and spent a lot of time on the phone to get it fixed. Replacement confirmation fixed the price but when I looked through the contract itself, the term was not fixed. Look through your contract and verify you are getting what you are paying for!

I have had my dishwasher serviced THREE times in the past THREE months. After spending well over $700 on repairs(choice paying sears to repair it) after the technician told choice it needed to be replaced...Choice finally decided on the THIRD visit to replace it but only offered me $179 for it. I declined the offer and was contacted by a case manager who then upped the offer to $379. It is a top of the line stainless Frigidaire dishwasher. I couldn’t come close to replacing it for $379. The case manager told me that choice doesn’t replace comparable colors or brands? What? So I pretty much had a BMW and they are trying to give me a KIA. This is ridiculous!!
