Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I had submitted a claim to repair my dishwasher. The repairman said that the work cannot be completed to fix the dishwasher because the model and serial number tag was missing and I was told that voids the warranty. It appears the tag has just peeled off over time; however, I still had to pay the $85 service fee for the gentlemen to do nothing except tell me he can't do anything because a tag is missing. I had the model and serial number information as it was provided to me in a ledger provided by the HOA in my condo complex. I don't think this should void the warranty, I believe the repair should have been made, and if not, I certainly should not have had to pay a service fee for them... Read More

Brian was very courteous and knowledgeable. Within a few minutes, he was able to diagnose the problem and went to work to fix the issue. Within 30 minutes the air conditioning was up and running.

Came on time disposal in hand. He had to return to his shop for a larger sazall as the disposal was rusted and very difficult to get out. Returned promptly put in new disposal and it works great. He is professional and very capable.

SINK STILL LEAKING!! CANCELED POLICY!!! First repair service was a handyman. Dre & A Handyman Service [KCMO] INCOMPETENT & UNRELIABLE Second service was an actual plumber. Replaced a water hose, next morning still leaking, plumber returned, decides connectors needed to be placed. Contacted CHW to approve repair. CHW denied plumbers request. BLAMED HANDYMAN AND REFUSED PAYMENT. Apparently in the fine print they can blame the first service tech even though they hired him to do the job and was incapable of making the repair. CHW failed on following through with their service contract. Immediately canceled policy and sink still leaking.... Thanks for the customer service. 0 stars
