Our Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5 (Excellent)

Choice Home Warranty offers a full array of home appliance and systems coverage at a competitive price. The company offers two plans for existing home owners —Basic and Total. In addition to a monthly premium, customers can expect to pay an $85 service fee each time they make a claim, which falls in low-to-mid range when compared to other home warranty companies.

You can submit a claim 24/7, including holidays, via phone, online, or app. The company utilizes proprietary technology to begin the dispatching process after a claim is filed. The company has recently updated their plans increasing coverage and has fewer limitations. Their plans and optional coverage can cover over 25 major systems and appliances.

Choice Home Warranty earns a B rating from the Better Business Bureau and has a positive rating on Trustpilot, but in this industry, negative customer reviews far outnumber positive ones.

Coverage Options - 4.5 / 5

Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. The company states that, in any case, its total liability for any single item is capped at $3000, but lower limits do apply to some covered items.

We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Empower your sales people to give the best price package in the initial contact, instead of someone else jumping in on the call and taking over for them. If you have senior pricing, let the person know. I felt you did a bait and switch. Very unprofessional. Makes me feel like I've been taken.

The technician that came out to repair our dryer was very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. He was in the area when he got the call and made it the same afternoon. I have used Choice on several occasions, and I have had great service each and every time. I am a General Contractor, and based on my own experiences with Choice, I highly recommend them for your emergency appliance repairs.

Mixed experience. The techs that come out, are random, and I had to have someone come out twice for the same issue, back to back. They won't do what you need to get done, but what the Warranty wants them to do. If any additional work that needs to be done outside of original visit, requires submissions of the request, review by the board, and then it may or may not happen. Contractors are put in a bad spot by the company, because any subsequent visits for the same issue is a Ding on their rating. Not very customer focused experience. Already considering another home warranty vendor once this contract runs out.

Not sure WHY you request my rating as my experiences only get WORSE rather than better. You fail to disclose settlement terms/reimbursements, which leads to confusion and not providing the best outcome for your customers.

Offering to help with expenses to fix or upgrade an older AC unit. It is not maintaining function. Without an additional large interior AC unit the roof unit is not keeping 678 sq feet under 80 and we have not hit the dangerous temperatures yet. I understand they do not upgrade but my system is no longer made. I’m willing to pay a couple thousand dollars to have a safe living environment. I am told this is a decision at the top. I am a yelp elite and want to give a fantastic review. I have almost 30,000 viewers and appreciate good service and product. I do hope the resolve is that I can help to pay to have cool in my AZ home. A new unit functioning from the company that was sent was... Read More
